[ is just shy of running through the hallways, feet light as not to draw unnecessary attention from the doctor down in his study. checks a few places -- their shared room, the fireplace room, their place by the window -- before hesitatingly tiptoeing toward the front doors. opens them just enough to poke his head, a shoulder & arm outside (not enough to cause any alarms), eyes quickly scanning the premises before he finally spots her in the near-ish distance.

clears his voice & hisses out, as loud as he dares to let his voice go: ]

[ steps lightly a few paces to lean on the wall next to the piano, folding her hands in front of herself as she waits, not daring to speak. feels a little nervous yet expectant, fidgeting slightly on the spot. ]

[ takes a deep breath, rests his fingers on the keys. closes his eyes for a moment, drawing in all nervousness before he starts to play (http://pearlet.angelfire.com/Fan_Gong_Piano_Music_Vol._1__Silence_Is_Gold_10_Cry_For_Sha.mp3). ]

[ watches him for a while as he begins the song, eyes eventually sliding shut while her head tips back slightly, simply breathing in the melody. the music tugs at her, making her feel happy & warm and other things she has yet to put into words. when he finally stops playing, however, she does not speak or seem aware of her surroundings for a little while longer.

when she finally comes to a soft smile forms upon her lips, head ducking down slightly to bask in the afterglow of the music. ]

... that was wonderful, Albert.

[ leans away from the piano with a deep, silent breath -- inhale, exhale. turns to her when he hears her speak, lips spreading into first what seems to be a shy smile (reminiscent of his younger years) before turning a little more proud. ]

[ reaches out a hand to touch the side of his face, eyes going a little soft as she murmurs her next words: ]

[ pulls away a little quicker than usual, turning her head slightly to the side to gather herself again. eventually turns back with a small shrug on her shoulders, lacing her fingers behind her back. ]

I wish I could play the piano like you do.

[ shrugs, lowering his eyes to the floor as he rings a note with a finger. ]

Your singing's a lot nicer.

No, but you-- [ pauses. shakes her head, deciding to not push it. ] Thank you. I'm happy you think so.

[ looks up at her with a firm expression, borderline a pout. ]

[ finally nods in acknowledgment, taking the initiative to sit on the edge of the piano bench, hands resting upon her lap. ]

Alright. Though I am not sure what we should do.

[ scoots over to give her more room on the bench, hitting another note in thought. ]

Hmm... what do you like singing the best?

[ tilts her head to the side, giving him a confused look, as if that answer is supposed to be relatively obvious by now. ]

Not like that... [ makes motions with his hands as he struggles a little, trying to get the correct words out. ]

Uh... like... something you like singing. Not because I asked, y-you know?

[ frowns slightly. averts her eyes down to her hands, looking at them in thought. doesn't speak for a while, thinking long & hard on his words. finally shakes her head, looking disappointed (in herself). ]

[ nods. scoots a little more for a bit more distance & holds up his hand, pinky extended. ]

Mm. You promised. And... I'll work on more songs for you while you think, too.

[ blinks at his hand for a moment, slowly yet surely mirroring his action to bump her finger against his. ]

[ hooks his finger with hers, bobbing it up & down a few times as they had done before, when they were younger. ]

Okay. [ a faint flush. ] I'll try not to disappoint.

[ quickly shakes her head, continuing their hold for the moment as she speaks her mind. ]

[ laughs a bit, the sound warm as he unhooks his pinky so that he can touch -- hold -- onto her hand better as he turns his gaze back toward the piano. ]

Don't say that. I need to work harder.

[ looks at their hands, closing her eyes as a tiny smile touches her lips. speaks softly; ]

You can do anything. [ gives his hand a tiny squeeze. ] I just know it.
