[ is just shy of running through the hallways, feet light as not to draw unnecessary attention from the doctor down in his study. checks a few places -- their shared room, the fireplace room, their place by the window -- before hesitatingly tiptoeing toward the front doors. opens them just enough to poke his head, a shoulder & arm outside (not enough to cause any alarms), eyes quickly scanning the premises before he finally spots her in the near-ish distance.

clears his voice & hisses out, as loud as he dares to let his voice go: ]

[ looks down at herself when he's situated, considering his question. looks back up, expression unwavering. ]

I am fine.

But you just said it was a little cold.

[ blinks at him, confused. ]

... [ starts to take off the coat. ]

If you're okay, then I should be okay too.

[ does not move instantly, but when she does she gently touches his arm to stop him. moves a bit closer to wrap an arm around one of his own, averting her eyes to the ground when she feels her face grow warm. ]

If I'm cold, then I'll have you.

[ nods and holds onto his arm a bit tighter, as if silently telling him that she won't be letting go anytime soon. ]

[ nods & walks out of the room with her attached, grabbing a scarf on their way out. takes a deep breath of the cool air when beyond the doors, the heavy feeling of containment lifting away from his chest for a moment; makes him smile, pleased. ]

[ is trying very hard to not look at him, very focused on staring at the ground, as she knows he'll lead the way. feels kind of... funny, but doesn't know what to cap it off as. privately decides to ask sheryl about it later, though for now she'll just shyly glance at albert and try to make conversation. ]

A-am I holding on too tight?

[ draws himself out of his thoughts to look down when he hears her voice. ]

No, I'm okay. [ pauses a bit, trying to word his question correctly before he speaks again. ] Is... um, am I warm enough?

[ nods a little jerkily, gathering the courage to rest her temple against his shoulder. ]

Yes...

[ nods as well, content with the answer. leads them slowly through the gardens, wanting to enjoy every moment, eyes wandering from the decorative flowers to the sky before finally landing on top of her head.

hesitates a little before he lets his feet slow down into a full-stop so that he could comfortably rest his cheek on top of her hair. ]

[ stiffens only briefly, merely surprised at the sudden stop and his actions. slowly yet surely softens, feeling herself leaning in more as her eyes slide shut. lips twitch upward a bit, a thought striking her. ]

You're always warm. You always have been.

[ --an answer that's reminiscent of the past. ]

[ the words feel familiar to him, even when he cannot remember the exact moment where he's heard it -- someplace (sometime) far away, but close enough. it makes him feel safe & the answer that comes to mind is automatic: ]

[ feels like she should be denying his statement, but is too comfortable and warm at the moment from his heat to delve into something less pleasant. ]

[ meets her gaze & then looks away to the side, considering. ]

Of course. [ settles her head back on his shoulder. ] You would never lie to me.

[ nods once, in promise. ]

[ doesn't respond for a moment or two, too busy thinking on something. slowly moves away but does not let go of his arm as she lifts her free hand, extending her pinky finger towards him. ]

[ startles a bit, staring for a moment. & then slowly links her finger with his, a barely visible flush making its way across his cheeks as a smile twitches at the corner of his lips. ]
