[ in his study, half-reading & half-dozing as the exhaustion of last night's all-nighter begins to catch up to him. ends up leaning back, pinching the bridge of his nose as he exhales quietly.

a nap would be the smart course of action, he knows, regardless of his preferences. ]

[ is not surprised to find the door to the study half-way open (he remembers his family's habits well). still, he minds his manners & gives a knock against the wood before peering in. ]

[ eyes had opened immediately upon hearing the knock. pupils are a little unfocused when they land on damon's form half-hidden by the door. smiles. ]

Ah. Welcome home, little brother.

Thanks. [ shifts his weight from foot to foot, looking a little awkward. ]

[ then seems to make up his mind, crossing the room towards albert, situation himself on the floor next to albert's chair, back leaned against the side of it. ]

Busy night?

[ blinks once, slowly. ]

Merely a misjudgment on my part.

[ shrugs, resting his head against the chair. eyes closing. ]

Stupid old man. Stop doin' that.

[ pauses before slowly reaching a hand down onto damon's head, giving it a few, gentle pats. does not allow his fingers to near the blinded eye however. ]

[ quips lightly, momentarily ignoring the touches. ]

Staying up. Not eating. Shit like that.

[ thinks briefly on chiding damon on his language, decides against it. ]

I manage.

'course you manage. But you'll keel over someday, and when you do? I'm gonna be there, rubbin' I told you so in your face.

[ lips quirk upward. ]

I'll have to be careful, then.

How was university?

[ snorts & cranes his head upward to look at albert, gives him a cocky grin. ]

As awesome as I said it'd be.

. . . and living alone?

Eh. Not as great as people make it out to be, but hell, it still felt great being on your own two feet.

[ tilts his head again, smile taking on a wry edge. ]

I see. Just back for the summer, then?

Yep. Thought about summer classes, but that ain't very nice to sis or N, eh?

[ inclines his head in habit, in agreement, despite knowing that damon cannot see the movement. another pat to the head. ]

Guess it ain't too nice to anyone. [ rises to his feet as soon as the the touches stop, watching albert's expression carefully. ]

So. I'm goin' back for another year.

[ chuckles quietly. ]

Yes. I am aware that your program requires at least four years.

[ rolls eyes, but grins anyway. ]

Oh. Fucking finally. Progress! Or something.

[ lips twitch into another smile before he rises to his feet. ]

Forgive me. [ leans down to give damon a kiss to the forehead. ]
