[ the door slides open quietly under his push, greeting him with the sight of the mansion interior bathed in a golden yellow light -- a welcoming atmosphere. smiles, allowing himself to feel mildly impressed that the decorations were not as atrocious or in excess as the (semi-)disastrous party-meeting in their shared past. the first goal of his evening long-since decided, he gives alyssa a kiss to the forehead, brianna a silent look to communicate his intention & a final murmur of departure to his little brothers before he gently detaches himself from them -- but not for long, he hopes, for they are who he wishes to be around the most tonight -- in search of a certain boy-turned-man (mentally, at least).

is rather glad that there seems to be a distinct lack of them running around, making his search very short & effortless. gives anna a small bow & a polite (but well-meant) smile. ]

[ lifts a hand and circles his eyes to the ceiling, pressing a finger to each of the outstretched ones on his other hand, tacking them off as he goes down the list. ]

Simon is in the business industry and travels sometimes, Oliver works with flowers, and Rob works with Sora here at the mansion, down in the labs. They all seem to like it well enough, so as long as they're happy...

[ listens attentively & then finally nods, as if in approval. ]

Mm. And yourself?

Me? [ a moment's pause, to think. ] I'm well, thank you. I've always enjoyed taking care of the affairs around the house.

Is that enough?

[ says his next words a bit quietly, as if it's a secret, but there's an undertone of elation somewhere in there. ]

It is. To be honest, I think this is the happiest I've ever been.

[ reaches out, hand hovering a little before he turns it to allow the back of his hand to briefly brush anna's cheek gently. withdraws it as he tilts his head a little, smiling, voice just as low. ]

Then that is enough.

[ only seems surprised from the initial contact until he slowly comes down to a soft smile. shifts a bit to gently bump his shoulder against albert's, a gesture that equally shows some fondness. ]

Thank you. And you? You're happy as well?

I'm nearly convinced I cannot be happier.

Then it is my greatest wish that your happiness lasts a lifetime.

[ chuckles quietly. ]

Mm. Or several.

[ looks over to albert's family again, nodding in agreement. ]

If that is what you wish.

[ places the glass of his finished drink on a passing waiter's tray. inclines his head a little as he straightens on his feet, stretching a little before giving a short bow to silently excuse himself from anna's presence. gives him a deep smile in gratitude of being given some of his time before slowly walking toward the family that have allowed him to feel happy & at peace in many years & many more to come. ]
