[ yawns and stretches as he sits on the edge of the bed, his back to the female who is slowly starting to get dressed. flops backwards to peer up at her, giving some snide remark before she pops him on the nose with a hand in retribution. forgoes the shirt he was reaching for, instead rolling off the mattress to playfully plead with her to stay for a few more hours, though the joke is already lost once she steps into the bathroom to fix her hair.

grins a bit at that but dutifully moves out of her way, making a beeline back to his bedroom. lazily scratches at his already-frizzy hair as he leans against the doorway, not paying much attention to anything in particular. eventually his expression grows dimmer, eyes going up to the ceiling before they narrow slightly. finds himself unable to throw away the feeling of uneasiness that nestles into the pit of his stomach, almost as if something terrible had happened without him knowing. ]

Now that wouldn't be good. [ takes a moment to voice another thought as he washes out the dish. hesitates on putting it on the counter, remembering that anthony took the time to clean it. puts it away in the cabinet instead. ] Doing anything for our next break?

[ frowns slightly at the sink in thought, briefly thinking about the things he doesn't want to think about. ]

[ turns when he's had his moment, leaning on the counter with a smile. ]

[ lips fall into a split-second frown. wanders back to the refrigerator, bending down slightly to both hide his expression and grab himself a bottle of water. ]

[ & then stands up straight again, snapping the cap off to take a long drink. turns to anthony, almost thinking about saying more than he usually allows... then pushes it away again, giving a small smile. ]

But I'd take you with me, y'know.

[ exhales quietly & tightens his grip on the water bottle, though his voice is a tad hopeful. ]

[ opens mouth, thinking he has something to say to that, but closes it slowly when he realizes that he doesn't. nudges the fridge closed, taking a few steps forward to lean on the wall in thought. ]

... this is only temporary, Anthony. It's Alyssa, she won't stay this way forever.

[ cranes his head upward toward the ceiling. ] I'm unbalanced. I want to protect her, but I've. . . maybe I. . .

I need her. [ manages to stomp on the knee-jerk addition of even if it's not the way she wants me to on time. speaks his next words quietly as he admits something to tony -- to himself. ] So we'll fix it. I'll change, and we'll adapt.

[ twitches a bit in slight annoyance but pushes it down, realizing that it's not as important as this. doesn't speak for the time being, too busy surveying the (broken) boy on his couch to do much of anything. when he does speak he tries to keep his voice even, pushing away the critical sound he typically makes. ]

... do you think changing yourself will solve this? That just adapting will make everything go away? You need her, but it sounds to me like you're just avoiding her altogether. Don't you think--

[ stops and shakes his head a bit, running a hand through his hair. ]

No, it's not really any of my business. Sorry. I-- yeah, sorry. I don't know everything. Won't butt into your personal life or whatever.

[ steps forward a bit but does not touch anthony, simply looking down at him thoughtfully. lifts a hand, pauses, then puts it back to his side. it takes him a moment but he finally says: ]

Do whatever you think is right. If you need her, fight for her in the way you think is best. If you're still unsure, take some time to think more on it before acting. Impulsive decisions are... [ pauses. sighs. ] It ruins things. But I have faith in you to mend things, whatever those things might be.

[ looks up at him thoughtfully, listening & absorbing all of his words as best he can. slowly slides off the couch afterward to get back onto his feet. wants to say more (wishes he could say more), but he simply settles for taking a deep breath & reaching forward with his arms open, asking for contact. ]
