[ having decided that meeting anthony half-way would be best for this particular... conversation, he walks a bit slowly, quite aware that his dorm was closer to the school than his friend-slash-goalie's house. (that and he would probably have to struggle with his mode of transportation for a while.) so instead of the usual ten minutes it takes him to arrive to this particular destination, he gives himself thirty, casually making his way to one of the benches underneath a tree.

takes a seat, pulls out his cellphone, then begins to check his messages as he waits; it would be at least another fifteen minute wait, one he was finally willing to be patient for. after all, he wasn't expecting much, anyway. when it came to feelings, expectations were the worst things to have, or so he had logically deducted throughout his childhood. besides, it wouldn't be the end of the world if anything negative happened. this was anthony, after all, the boy who clucked and bawked louder than he spoke or made any semblance of sense with his words.

... it almost made him second-guess himself. almost.

pockets his phone and tilts his head backwards instead, letting it rest against the top of the bench. just simply stares up into the branches and leaves of the tree, allowing himself to show a rare display of being lost in some non-thoughts for the time being. ]

[ hums out a sound of agreement, beginning to eat in silence. after his eyes wander back to the decorations (& also a long bout of silence as he looks over them properly this time): ]

I take it you were in charge of this... [ pauses. looks them over again. ] ... peculiar type of embellishment.

Uh-- [ looks around, feeling a little sheepish all of a sudden. ]

Not really. I just put them up. Mastermind is Anne.

[ slowly raises an eyebrow at the look. decides not to comment on it, nodding. ]

Regardless of the situation, I am grateful for your efforts.

[ eyes go round. then drop the tabletop. ]

You're-- welcome. Glad you like it?

[ gives him a considering gaze, almost as if he's trying to figure something out. ]

You are embarrassed. [ also looks down at the tabletop, though for entirely different reasons (thinking, calculating, his usual). ] Should I not be saying these things out loud?

[ glances up at him, returning the stare for entirely different reasons. ]

. . . You do not have clearance for that answer. Please input a different question.

Being your significant other does not grant me access to numerous details concerning yourself? I would personally think otherwise.

[ ... point. ]

But it's a contradictory answer.

Of which I am certain will be something that I can handle.

[ long pause later: ]

It's, uh. Ilikehearingit but it's embarrassing to hear anyway.

[ thinks about that... then ends up nodding. ]

Contradictory, but it's very like you. Very well, then. I will continue to voice these thoughts when I see fit to do so.

[ kicks at him again, but very lightly. ]

. . . Kay. Just. In moderation.

I thought you would be use to these things by now. You are no stranger to them, as many people seem to be fond of you.

[ clears his throat. ]

I'm a master of distraction.

Speaking of which, I must take my leave in-- [ glances down at his watch briefly. ] --the next hour or so. I should prepare early for the outing with my family later this afternoon.

[ opens his mouth-- you have to go already? & then snaps it shut. finishes off his smoothie. ]

Then. Are you free tomorrow?

[ watches him carefully, observing him quietly (as per usual). decides to leave that question unanswered, instead replying with: ]

I would ask you to join us, but I doubt you would enjoy seeing my parents on such short notice. [ taps a finger on the table in thought. ] ... we should be out no later than ten. Are you available then instead?

[ visibly perks up. ]

Yeah. [ pause. ] Meet then instead?

[ nods. ]

As long as it is an acceptable time for you, yes.

We're good, if I don't take my nap.

[ ... ]

I won't take my nap.

... I think we should reschedule.
