TRACK ONE Crack The Shutters (lyrics)
crack the shutters open wide, i want to bathe you in the light of day / & just watch you as the rays tangle around your face and body / i could sit here for hours finding new ways to be awed each minute / 'cause the daylight seems to want you just as much as i want you
I just thought this was a very appropriate song from Riku to Rob. It's very... affectionate, both emotionally and physically. Some of it can be thought of as metaphors and some of it can be read outright without having to think too much about it. Plus it's about people laying around in bed, which I think is amusing, considering that Riku plans on staying over more often whenever Rob seems like he doesn't want to be alone. That and it sort of goes back and forth from "You wake up & bother me" (probably getting back at Riku for the days he wakes Rob up) to "I wake up & just watch you sleep." It fits pretty well, in my opinion.
TRACK TWO I Want All of You (lyrics)
i want all of you, i want all of you / from your feet up to your mouth, every inch of north & south / i'll keep calling you, i'll keep calling you / won't you listen to me say, don't you ever go away / will you wait for me? will you wait for me? / i'll be waiting here for you, anything that i can do
This song can definitely go both ways. With the way the lyrics are set up, I think of it as a song that goes back and forth between their thoughts, so some of it is Riku's, some of it is Rob's, and some of it is both of them. It's like, more of those inner thoughts that you don't say out loud, so the song sounds like it's based off of feelings and the thoughts of those feelings, if that makes any sense at all. The way the song shifts from kind of mellow to strong also sort of follows Riku's teasing & Rob's annoyance, their subtle friendship, then into a relationship.
TRACK THREE Chasing Cars (lyrics)
all that i am, all that i ever was / is here in your perfect eyes, they're all i can see / i don't know where, confused about how as well, just know that these things will never change for us at all / if i lay here, if i just lay here / would you lie with me and just forget the world?
Snow Patrol is always one of those bands where I constantly think Riku is singing everything, no matter what. I'm not sure why. But this one can definitely go both ways as well, though the force that the singer uses reminds me of Riku's boldness, while it also could be, as usual, Rob's thoughts. Or at least some of them, anyway, seeing as how Riku is the gigantic sap that would say stuff like this, or at least express it well enough to show that he means every word of it. It's just a very... strong, playful, yet powerful/emotional song. The way it's soft in the beginning but then gets louder at the end reminds me of the buildup to their relationship as well, just like the previous one. This just takes it to another level altogether.
TRACK FOUR Beautiful Oblivion (lyrics)
i've been burned like a wicker cabinet / chalk white and oh so frail / i see our time has gotten stale / the tick tock of the clock is painful / all sane and logical / i want to tear it off the wall
I admit, the "all sane and logical" part made me put this in here. But really, with the way both of them are (Rob attempting to accept being able to feel more than apathy/hindering himself from feeling them; Riku still thinking about his ~DARKNESS~ thing & not really wanting Rob to know how bad that was, etc.) and the way this song is sort of... jumbled up and doesn't make a whole lot of sense, well. It fits, as long as it keeps on going back and forth, though since they lyrics aren't quite clear on what's going on, there's no telling who's thinking what.
TRACK FIVE Warmer Climate (lyrics)
the universe just vanished out of sight / and all the stars collapsed behind the pitch black night / and i can barely see your face in front of mine / but it is knowing you are there that makes me fine / but the universe is just an empty space / and all the stars can disappear without a trace / & i'm so glad that this has taken so long / 'cause it's the journey that made me so strong
AGAIN SNOW PATROL, again another song I think Riku sings. Uh, it's just a back-and-forth song in terms of the tone of the instruments, but it's a very soothing song that always makes me think of two people laying in the grass in the middle of the night. It's something I can see Riku and Rob doing in silence. Or maybe not, in terms of silence, which is why it goes slow, a little faster, juuust a little bit more powerful, slower again & then BOOM, the climax, all the way to quiet again. That & it's a consistent song BUT at the same time it's... kind of a bunch of nonsense at some parts. Logical, then no logic, etc.
TRACK SIX All The Same (lyrics)
hours slide and days go by till you decide to come / but in-between it always seems too long / but i have the skill, yeah / i have the will, to breath you in while i can / however long you stay is all that i am
At first I thought this would be more Riku-ish, but after listening to it again/looking over the lyrics? It could definitely be something both of them think/feel/etc. Example with the snippit of lyrics: Riku is obviously the one who visits, considering that Rob isn't allowed outside of their world (yet?), so it could be taken quite literally. On the other hand, Rob is a very private person who doesn't open up as much as other people do, so it could also be a metaphor ("staying", "you decide to come" = more emotionally for Rob than the physical aspect of the way Riku comes & goes)).
TRACK SEVEN All Hail The Heartbreaker (lyrics)
so tonight i'll sit and pick apart your pictures and overanalyze your words / the truth is that i've never fallen so hard / it's taken everything in me / just to forget your sweater so far / i can honestly say that i never, ever, ever felt this way / your lips, your eyelashes, your skin / these are the parts of your body / that cause my comatose to begin
... this is all Riku, man. His ups and downs of liking Rob, the way he tries to "figure him out" and understand him and just. Get to know him. The reason the song title also fits is because Rob wasn't initially made to feel compassion, therefore he could possibly overlook something, such as feelings that other people express that he just. Doesn't "get". Even if Riku find that an endearing quality of his, it still could do some unintentional (potential) damage, hence "heartbreaker." I thought it was a nice twist with words.
TRACK EIGHT Make This Go On Forever (lyrics)
please don't let this turn into something it's not / i can only give you everything i've got / i can't be as sorry as you think i should / but i still love you more than anyone else could | and i don't know where to look, my words just break and melt; please just save me from this darkness
Sob. Okay. This one is actually very sweet but like. Angsty. And the reason why I thought of this one is because of this fic I'm working on for you, which I will have to discuss with you later on. After you read it, I mean, since it'll be a good fall/lift to their relationships and friendship. But the last part of the song? Yeah, yeah that's Riku. This is just a song full of him and again, you'll see what I mean later.

EXTRA 1 Inside Of You (lyrics)
it seems so obvious, there's something up with us / i swear i feel it from across the room / so can i ask you this? / not to be forward, miss / but i think i'd kill myself if i never knew / what do i have to do to get inside of you? to get inside of you
Here, have Riku being a gigantic pervert. ... I couldn't help myself. :')
EXTRA 2 Clumsy (lyrics)
HAHAHAHA
No really just listen to the song, because this is Rob. Just. A cracked up version of Rob. I can't even type up the lyrics because it's ridiculous.
EXTRA 3 I'm Sticking With You (lyrics)
i'm sticking with you / 'cause i'm made out of glue / anything that you might do / i'm gonna do to
Riku being obnoxious, then sappy. It's a cute song, nonetheless.
EXTRA 4 Drunken Lament (lyrics)
i'd ride in your pocket all day / but i don't fit / say the word and i'll stay / i'm throwin' a party tonight / i drink more than a sailor on shore / pour the rum in my eyes / tell me lies
I stumbled upon this song on my computer & laughed. Just imagining Riku singing this drunk is... hilarious. Kind of thinking that if they ever got into a fight it would end up with Riku doing something stupid. ... in a cracky way, I mean, hence why it's in the crack section. That & I can't see them getting into a big enough fight, seeing as how Riku is very adaptable to Rob's moods and stuff. STILL. IT WAS FUNNY.
