[ the door slides open quietly under his push, greeting him with the sight of the mansion interior bathed in a golden yellow light -- a welcoming atmosphere. smiles, allowing himself to feel mildly impressed that the decorations were not as atrocious or in excess as the (semi-)disastrous party-meeting in their shared past. the first goal of his evening long-since decided, he gives alyssa a kiss to the forehead, brianna a silent look to communicate his intention & a final murmur of departure to his little brothers before he gently detaches himself from them -- but not for long, he hopes, for they are who he wishes to be around the most tonight -- in search of a certain boy-turned-man (mentally, at least).

is rather glad that there seems to be a distinct lack of them running around, making his search very short & effortless. gives anna a small bow & a polite (but well-meant) smile. ]

[ swirls around her glass of wine a few times as she observes the people around her, belatedly smiling in a polite gesture to anyone who meets her gaze. if it were anyone but damon she might've missed his greeting, but as he approaches she snaps out of her thoughtful stare, raising an eyebrow down at his plate of food.

tries to hide her amusement with her next words: ]

Are you not getting fed enough at home, sweetheart?

Stuff it. I got put on a diet.

[ snorts, holding back her laughter. ]

I'm sorry, what?

I ain't repeatin' myself!

Aw, but it's so cute.

[ just stuffs another tart in his mouth. ]

[ swipes one from his plate, mindful to eat it with more grace. ]

Enjoying the party so far?

[ swallows before speaking loudly. ]

Hell yeah! It's fucking delicious!

[ smacks him upside the head, wearing a bright smile. ]

[ staggers a bit. ]

Oi, watch the plate!

[ waves that off. ]

[ lifts the glass to her lips, speaking before taking a sip. ]

Of course I do. [ uses her free hand, reaching up to lightly brush his hair fondly. ] I raised you, after all.

[ stand still for the brushing for a moment, pulling away afterward to shake it back into its natural, messy state. ]

Yep. This appetite's from you too, I bet.

[ smiles a bit wider at that, covering it up with her glass once more. ]

I'd apologize but I enjoy having that in common.

[ looks thoughtful for a moment as he munches on yet another tart. ]

But I'll still beat you one day. At this game? Count on it.

[ stares at him, as if trying to think of how to give some sort of encouragement. ]

... of course you will.

[ points a finger at her face. ]

I'M SERIOUS, DAMN IT.

[ lightly snaps her teeth at that finger. ]

I'm sure you are.

[ draws it back before it can be bit. ]

Oh ho. This is only gonna make victory that much sweeter.

[ rolls her eyes, amused. ]
