[ having decided that meeting anthony half-way would be best for this particular... conversation, he walks a bit slowly, quite aware that his dorm was closer to the school than his friend-slash-goalie's house. (that and he would probably have to struggle with his mode of transportation for a while.) so instead of the usual ten minutes it takes him to arrive to this particular destination, he gives himself thirty, casually making his way to one of the benches underneath a tree.

takes a seat, pulls out his cellphone, then begins to check his messages as he waits; it would be at least another fifteen minute wait, one he was finally willing to be patient for. after all, he wasn't expecting much, anyway. when it came to feelings, expectations were the worst things to have, or so he had logically deducted throughout his childhood. besides, it wouldn't be the end of the world if anything negative happened. this was anthony, after all, the boy who clucked and bawked louder than he spoke or made any semblance of sense with his words.

... it almost made him second-guess himself. almost.

pockets his phone and tilts his head backwards instead, letting it rest against the top of the bench. just simply stares up into the branches and leaves of the tree, allowing himself to show a rare display of being lost in some non-thoughts for the time being. ]

[ rummages around for the decorations, pulling them out. ]

I thought he was going home for a while.

He could. But when I left, he was doing his wrap-up stretches.

[ sighs a bit, handing over the trash bag of stuff. ]

Well, I do hope he doesn't eat. I wanted to make him something special...

Ah, I know! Why don't you stay and eat with him? It could be a joint celebration party!

[ freezes in his tracks. ]

I, uh. Uh. . . if he doesn't-- mind. Yeah.

Really? That's wonderful! I usually make too much anyway, so this will be perfect! [ points towards the back. ] I'll go get your smoothie ready, okay?

[ raises a hand in agreement before spinning on his heel to walk back to the table.

proceeds to then turn his attention entirely to the bag. pulls things out to lay them on the table, briefly organizing them for -- no reason at all, really. leans back to stare at it all for a moment, head tilted in mock consideration & then gets to work, sticking this & that in various corners and edges. ]

[ gets to work on his smoothie, humming cheerfully to herself. when the phone rings in her pocket she stops the machine to pick it up.

it's only a moment later that she scurries out of the kitchen with the (half-done) smoothie in hand, weaving past the tables quickly. stops before she knocks into anthony, looking flustered. ]

A-ANTHONY! We have trouble! My brother, he's finished earlier than we expected! He's coming over now!

[ ... just. squawks. ]

What?! Go-- go outside and hold him off! [ stare at the table. ] Five minutes! Three!

Um... um o-okay! I'll do my best!

[ keeps her hold on the smoothie as she rushes outside. ... a second later she's back, placing said smoothie on the table before waving at anthony and flailing off again. ]

[ is momentarily distracted by the smoothie--

then bodily pulls himself away, hurriedly throwing on the rest of the decorations, not really minding how... slanted they might look. ]

[ thankfully for both of them, it takes him around ten minutes to show up, though she keeps looking over her shoulder to see if anthony is done or not.

when he arrives, she greets him cheerfully (refrains from a hug, even if she's slightly bouncing in place again from the urge to do so) and brings him inside after a short conversation, relieved when she sees that ~~her chicken-friend~~ anthony is done.

hurries on over to her friend's side, looking a little flustered as she spreads out her arms wide at the (somewhat sloppy) decorations. ]

Surprise, big brother! Congratulations!

[ blinks at everything. after a moment or so passes by: ]

Thank you, I was not expecting this. Your efforts are appreciated greatly. [ turns his full attention to anne. ] Will you be joining us as well?

[ shakes her head. ]

I'm sorry. I really should be getting back to work. [ steps away from the table, lips twitching into a softer smile. ] We can celebrate together at dinner with mother and father.

[ straightens out her skirt a little, fidgeting. ]

Um. I'll bring out your food in a while. I'm going to make you something special.

[ nods once in acknowledgment, stepping over towards one of the chairs. ]

I appreciate it. [ pauses. ] Do not overwork yourself.

[ smiles brightly, nodding. ]

Of course, big brother.

[ turns to give anthony a wide smile, mouthing thank you before turning and scurrying away. ]

[ stands there kind of awkwardly, his arms also out by his sides. ]

Uh-- ta-da. Okay, done. [ & now just sits in the chair & grabs his smoothie. ] . . . That was fast. You lied about the hour.

[ nods in semi-agreement. ]

I had an emergency situation at home. My mother and father called it off at the last minute.

[ eyes go a bit round. ]

Lawyers can do that?

If they so wish. [ gives anne a nod when she comes back with some water, taking a sip of it. and then, the inevitable: ] So. What is it you wished to speak of? Do you want to resign from your position on the team?

[ narrowly avoids choking on his smoothie. ]

I'm going to call my union if you kick me out.

Tell me what in the world is the matter or I will kick you out. [ pauses. ] Temporarily, perhaps.
