[ is helping with this & that, exchanging a few words with some people, sitting down for a few minutes with others if they were insistent -- but he's mostly on his feet or by the door, greeting & serving.

this used to be his life. he doesn't really miss it (right now, he was only here for anna; wouldn't be here otherwise). eyes go up to the clock for the umpteenth time, sighing inwardly. too much time left. too much. ]

Ah, that's right, I forgot. [ closes his eyes and rests peacefully again, a small smile touching his lips. ] You play hard-to-get, but deep down inside that's not the case at all.

[ takes rob's free hand into one of his own, tilting his head slightly to press a kiss on top of it. rests the side of his face against it afterward, staying silent for a moment before speaking. ]

[ lets some more silence pass between them, knowing that there are only so many ways to work into it. but since he's him, he just jumps right to the point. ]

I mean I'm thankful for you letting me in. I know that it's difficult to have outsiders become close to you. I'm a very lucky person.

[ --that doesn't deserve it is what he wants to add on to that last part, but stops before he lets it slip. ]

[ thinks on those words silently to himself, then slowly and carefully sits up again, just so they're (sort of) eye-to-eye. instead of looking at him he leans back into the couch, an arm reaching over to curl around rob's shoulders, enjoying the closeness. closes his eyes again and smiles. ]
