[ the days are rather chilly this time of year -- it's the reason why he was dressed in two layers with another cloak draped over one shoulder. walking briskly, paying the scenery no mind (he didn't have much of an interest in them) before finally spotting the little table for two and anna's back.

smiles softly while approaching, making as little noise as possible while slipping off the cloak at the same time so that he can place them them over anna's shoulders when he gets in range. leaves his hands on those shoulders as he leans in a tad to murmur. ]

It's amazing that you haven't caught something already.

[ walks forward slowly to meet robert, eyes not leaving his. lifts his hands to cup his face, gaze softening. ]

I love you the most, and have more faith in you than anyone else. That will never change. But it is also my duty to recognize my strengths and weaknesses.

[ closes his eyes as he leans against the touch, exhaling softly. ]

Annabelle. I. . . I believe you to be stronger than anyone. I cannot compare.

[ then there is hesitation, a heavy silence. it's only after a long moment that he finally moves again to reach up & place a hand over one of annabelle's. ]

Yet if this is your desire, then I will not-- [ cannot ] --argue.

[ fully relaxes with his words, feeling some sort of weight lifted from his shoulders. peers up at him regardless, inquiring timidly: ]

... you do not feel any animosity towards me, then?

[ sighs in relief, a tiny smile touching his lips. ]

[ removes himself from robert, turning to stick his nose up slightly in the air, his tone purposely playful. ]

[ rolls his eyes up in mock exasperation. ]

And this is precisely why I may be wounded.

[ shifts so that he's standing next to him, gently wrapping his arms around one of robert's own. ]

Well... I suppose that could be arranged.

[ & leans his head against annabelle's, shielding his expression as his eyes slip closed one more time. ]

[ smiles slightly, simply allowing them to stay there in silence. a thought strikes him, however, the urge to speak too great. ]

... I have missed you. [ grip tightens slightly. ] I feel like I have not seen you in a long while.

[ presses a light kiss to the top of annabelle's head. ]

I suppose it has been some time since we've allowed ourselves to speak so openly.

[ buries his head into robert's shoulder. ]
