[ the days are rather chilly this time of year -- it's the reason why he was dressed in two layers with another cloak draped over one shoulder. walking briskly, paying the scenery no mind (he didn't have much of an interest in them) before finally spotting the little table for two and anna's back.

smiles softly while approaching, making as little noise as possible while slipping off the cloak at the same time so that he can place them them over anna's shoulders when he gets in range. leaves his hands on those shoulders as he leans in a tad to murmur. ]

It's amazing that you haven't caught something already.

[ is slightly surprised at rob's choice of approach, though he sets his teacup down and places a hand on one of rob's own. tilts his head to the side, smiling softly. ]

The weather and I have a pact, you see. As long as I bask in its presence every now and then, I will continue to be in good health.

[ leans forward even more to rest his chin on anna's shoulder. ]

So you say. But I wouldn't trust the weather to keep its word.

[ cue another few surprised blinks here, turning his head slightly before tilting it. ]

Are you alright, Robert?

[ gestures at the table. ]

Is everything ready? Can I sit down?

[ was too distracted to even remember why they were there. motions to the chair, a little flustered at his mistake. ]

Oh! I am sorry, of course!

[ looks amused & just sits. ]

Panna Cotta. It is supposedly Italian, or so I was told. I hope it suits your tastes.

[ it is only at night that annabelle comes out again, feeling as tired and restless as he was earlier in the day. the gardens are his refuge once again, however, a destination that he hopes will bring him rest.

a place to sit is easy to find; a large, white iron bench that he sees home to often, hidden amongst an assortment of flowers that usually gives him comfort. though tonight he opts to sit and lean forward, elbows braced on his knees as he puts his face into his hands, exhaling out a soft breath of regret. ]

[ sits up from where he had been lying on the grass when a soft sound rouses him from his thoughts. his movement is a little sluggish as he shakes off any drowsiness, carefully rounding the vegetation to get a glimpse of the stranger.

pauses only briefly upon realizing it's annabelle & purposefully makes his footsteps a little louder as not to startle his sibling too much. ]

Does your pact with the weather protect you during your nightly strolls as well?

[ had been deep in thought and thus jerks slightly at the noise, shoulders relaxing when upon realizing who it is. inhales, exhales; cranes his neck to look up at the sky, voice soft as he speaks. ]

Sometimes.

[ makes a considering noise & takes off his cloak to place on annabelle's shoulders. turns around afterward, leaning against the bench as he looks in the opposite direction. ]

Then I would not place so much faith in it.

[ briefly blinks at the sudden movement, turning to look at robert. almost doesn't seem like he's going to say anything for a moment there, until he shifts to look at the sky again, speaking a little less quietly this time. ]

I put faith in things that I believe in. Sometimes it falters, but I won't reject it for just one fault. It can redeem itself again tomorrow.

And faith is at times mistakenly placed in things that only grow more rotten with time.

There's a limit. Optimism can be poison in excessive amounts.
