[ nods briefly and moseys on over to the steps, heading up to the second floor. kind of just. glances behind him, 'cause even he's having trouble with the stupid backpack.

almost opens his mouth to ask if he wants albert to help, stopping himself to push that idea away in the back of his mind. just keeps on going in silence. ]

[ unfortunately, he misses the expression, being far too focused on the load in his arms & cursing the stairs to the lowest levels of hell. one step up. another step up. is in the middle of thinking that trying to squeeze everything in three very heavy boxes was not such a good idea. legs are wobbling with the strain. ]

. . . SHIT, why the fuck don't we have an elevator yet?!

[ blinks a few times, turning around slightly to look at him. ]

Good going, genius.

Bite me. [ is resilient, however & somehow manages to hobble up onto the last step before putting the box down. shakes at his hands & rolls his shoulders. ]

[ sets down the backpack (carefully), copying him like it's heavier than the box damon's carrying. looks down at said box and nudges it slightly. time to talk a little bit. ]

So uh. How long're you staying?

Rest of the summer. Right into the end of August.

[ gives him a soft punch to the shoulder, grinning. ]

What, already counting down the days? Sorry, you're stuck with me for a few months.

[ grunts, gently nudging his leg with a foot. ]

Just wanted to calculate how many times I can push you into the pool when you're not looking.

[ pauses. ]

That and I guess I'm glad you're back. I guess.

Ha! You push me? Aren't you a riot.

[ grins a little at the second bit, but does not respond, instead doing a full body stretch with a yawn to top it off. after giving nathan a quick hair ruffle, he bends down to pick up the box again. ]

You done catching your breath? Let's get a move on.

[ closes an eye and goes 'augh' quietly, picking up the backpack again with some difficulty. curses his arms and wonders if he should start working out... ]

I dunno about you, but I ain't helping with the other boxes.

You planning on leaving me to break my arms by myself?

What? You think I can carry one?!

[ manages a shrug with great effort, but grins to let him know that he's joking. ]

Chill, N. I'll just do it in chunks or something.

[ looks away, grumbling quietly, more to himself than damon. ]

I mean... I could do it, I guess...

You and what muscle? Don't you get short-breathed from just making your bed?

[ sputters, a little flustered. ]

I-- I do not!

[ this is laughter, loud & full of energy. when they finally near his room, he puts the box down again & lets out a relieved exhale. ]

Did I get any room service? Or am I gonna walk into a total dust trap?

Naw, it's probably all cleaned up.

[ because he double-checks every few weeks, but damon doesn't need to know that. ]

Heh. Not bad.

[ opens the door & peeks into the room. flicks on the light switch, nods at it, satisfied. ]

Yep. There's nothing like your own room to come home to.

[ just stands there and observes him, secretly pleased to see damon in his own room again. isn't sure why, but...

snaps out of it and follows him in, hobbling over to the bed to set the backpack down on it. puffs out a sigh of relief, seating himself on top of the mattress afterward. ]

You should just go get someone else to bring in the rest.

[ makes a beeline for the bed, sitting down on it before flopping onto his back, arms spread out beside him. ]

Nah, rather do it myself. It's my junk.
