[ circles around to face her boys when they get inside of the park, taking out her handy dandy map to look over it. doesn't take too long in deciding what to do first; hands go on her hips, giving them a look as if she's leading an army going to war, though the smile on her face adds something more pleasant onto the double-meaning. ]

So I was thinking that we should split up first and meet up for lunch later. It's pretty crowded today. Going in twos is the best option, since we don't want to lose any short people.

Yep. You pick up on it, like any other language.

[ hums in reply, taking a long glance at the horse in the corner of his eye. after a moment he turns to it, opens his mouth and then says: ]

Neigh?

[ a short silence -- & then laughter. loud ones, enough to make the people around them startle & give them a funny, disgruntled, or weird looks. ]

[ doesn't take notice of them and instead turns his head to look at damon, eyebrows scrunched together in a half-hurt, half-angry look. ]

W-WHAT, WHAT'D I DO?!

[ takes a few more minutes to heave down his laughter, still snickering by the time he gives nathan a reassuring pat to the head. ]

Nothin', nothin'. But it doesn't work like that, N.

[ settles down as well, a cross between a frown and a pout lingering on his lips. ]

Why not!

[ gives him another pat. ]

Well. Basics. Your 'neigh' don't sound anythin' like their 'neigh'. S'like trying to understand bad French when you're English.

Okay fine, smart guy, how do you talk to them?

Just plain ol' English.

... I hate to tell you this, but I don't think horses understand English.

[ sighs & shakes his head, weighing the pros & the cons of going through an explanation. in the end, just ruffles nathan's hair again briefly, & simply withdraws. ]

They understand enough. [ turns away with some difficulty when one raises its head toward them, as if considering whether or not to approach. ] C'mon. Dunno 'bout you, but I ain't feelin' up to missing that ride.

Huh? [ is momentarily surprised by his words, glancing once to the horse then back at damon, as if considering to say otherwise. ] Oh, right.

[ is determinedly not looking back, tugging nathan along. ]

We staying for fireworks?

[ obediently follows, answering with some kind of excitement. ]

Hell yeah we are!

S'what I like to hear.

[ raises both of his eyebrows over at damon in approval, making a beeline over to the ride. looks quite pleased with the way they pass the other people in the other longer line, though not-so pleased when they have to stop anyway when they get inside.

crosses his arms over his chest, thinking about something briefly. ]

... we'll go back to your ponies or whatever later.

[ an eyebrow goes up, caught off guard. response is slower to form than usual, muddled by both surprise & pleasure. ]

I dunno, N. You sure you gonna survive another round with them killer ponies?

[ almost looks offended but he pauses before he has a chance to, only huffing a little bit instead. ]

Ha ha, very funny.

[ shrugs, a single word caught on his tongue that he pointedly does not voice, though his appreciative expression speaks enough for it.

gets into the seat of the ride when their turn finally arrives, lips split into a grin of anticipation. ]

[ when he slips into his own seat he wiggles around a bit to get comfortable. snaps on the seat belt as his hands grip whatever handlebars are around, almost as if he's preparing himself for something like the previous ride he was on with albert. mutters underneath his breath: ]

This had better be good.

[ doesn't bother answering as the ride lurches forward right afterward. his excitement lasts as long as they get to the snake, but by the time they reach the end (& the pathetic dip at the end), he can only lean back & shake his head, torn in his judgment of the ride. ]

Eh. Didn't suck, I guess.

[ actually looks kind of pleased for once, though whether or not it's because he didn't scream his head off like a little girl is yet to be decided. sighs heavily & unlocks his seat belt anyway, stepping out to put his hands on his hips. ]

Well I thought it was pretty cool.

[ gets to his feet too, stretching out the kinks as he starts walking out. ]

It's goddamn Indiana Jones! Needed more speed.

The speed was fine the way it was!

[ seems to be deaf in his disappointment, so much that as soon as they're outside, he turns to point at the steepest (& fastest) looking roller coaster within their vicinity. ]

Next target! We're way behind in adrenaline!
