[ it was with some strange stroke of luck that nathan had confirmed the non-presence of albert, brianna, and damon in the mansion for the weekend, almost suspiciously double-checking with them all to make sure; albert was off to god knows where, brianna flew out to hawaii for a photo shoot, and damon was spending some quality time with his friends before the summer officially came to a close.

nathan didn't think it would be this simple. lo and behold, the mansion was completely his for the taking for at least two and a half days. this prompted the almost juvenile-like excitement that overcame him when he invited caleb over for a real two-night stay inside the mansion, to show him where he lived (where he didn't like to live) and let him explore what he normally did not allow people to see. so this is why he tugged at caleb's hand enthusiastically, his body betraying the way he tried to school his expression, knowing somewhere in the back of his mind that in the end it was quite a futile attempt.

stops when they're far enough inside the mansion, not bothering to let caleb's hand go as he turns slightly to look at him. ]

Well, here we are. [ a pause, as if his excitement was slowly wearing off. ] Again.

[ trails behind a little, looking down at his hands with a slightly troubled (considering) gaze. ]

[ keeps on going at an evened pace, not really paying attention to anything in particular. when caleb says or does nothing for longer than he's used to he glances over his shoulder, blinking at his expression. ]

...

[ slows down a bit so that they're closer together, blindly reaching out with his left hand for one of caleb's hands after he shifts the pizza box into his right. doesn't say anything, however, too busy trying to fight the blush that quickly spreads across his face. ]

. . . !!

[ takes a quick step forward so that they're walking side-by-side. quickly wipes his hands against his pants anyway before responding, reaching & holding that hand. ]

[ a small twinge of his lips is all he'll give away, too busy setting the pizza box on top of one of the now-clean counters in the kitchen, quickly strolling on by it while tugging caleb along. ]

We have a few ways out to the gardens, but this one is the best. Doesn't have the pool next to it, but that's just a big puddle of water. Not as interesting, y'know?

[ follows along, but fidgets a bit as he makes a profound statement: ]

Everything in Nathan house is big.

[ pace slows a bit at that, frowning as he looks towards the ground. ]

Yeah... it is.

[ catches up & peers at him curiously. ]

Nathan do not like?

[ shakes his head. ]

No. It's too big. A lot of people think it's cool to live in such a huge place, but...

[ struggles for a bit. looks up at him and settles with: ]

It's uh. Unfriendly at times. Cold. Sort of lonely, too.

. . . [ steps a bit closer to him. ]

With family too?

... especially with my family, yeah.

[ shakes his head again to ward off the thoughts, lips finally turning up into a smile. ]

But it's getting better. I have you now, right?

[ tugs him into another embrace, a hand patting nathan's back in a comforting manner. ]

Family is important to me, but family hurt Nathan. Is hard to understand.

But I stay with Nathan where Nathan want and need. Nathan is not alone.

[ blinks at the sudden contact but responds accordingly, arms wrapping themselves firmly around caleb. laughs once, a bit weakly. ]

I guess I didn't really realize until now that I missed not being alone. [ closes his eyes, relaxing. ] But I'm glad. Thank you.

[ plants another kiss to the top of nathan's head & holds it there while riding out the ache in his chest. instinctively draws nathan tighter. ]

Gern geschehen.

I stay.

[ holds onto caleb a bit tighter at his words, shoulders shaking slightly. really hopes that he isn't crying again, but knows that thought is quite futile by now, so he lets himself do what he has to do to convey his feelings. ]

[ after he's had his moment he pulls away slightly, rubbing at his eyes furiously with his hands. ]

AUGH. SO STUPID. SECOND TIME TODAY. DAMNIT. WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME.

[ hangs onto him, having adapted to the drill by now. doesn't let him go completely, merely bending down to kiss him between the eyes. ]

Is okay. Nathan heart sound is not hurt, so is okay.

[ still feels embarrassed but tries to get over it sooner, accomplishing his task to some degree by glancing up at caleb once. back to the floor they go. ]

That puts you at such an advantage... I can't hear your heart without trying.

[ nods happily, seemingly missing the second half of the statement. ]

Ja! Hear Nathan heart is good thing of map!

[ looks up at him, instantly recovering by his statement. ]

Good thing of map?

[ points to his eye. ]

Map. Is why I hear and see good.
