[ it was with some strange stroke of luck that nathan had confirmed the non-presence of albert, brianna, and damon in the mansion for the weekend, almost suspiciously double-checking with them all to make sure; albert was off to god knows where, brianna flew out to hawaii for a photo shoot, and damon was spending some quality time with his friends before the summer officially came to a close.

nathan didn't think it would be this simple. lo and behold, the mansion was completely his for the taking for at least two and a half days. this prompted the almost juvenile-like excitement that overcame him when he invited caleb over for a real two-night stay inside the mansion, to show him where he lived (where he didn't like to live) and let him explore what he normally did not allow people to see. so this is why he tugged at caleb's hand enthusiastically, his body betraying the way he tried to school his expression, knowing somewhere in the back of his mind that in the end it was quite a futile attempt.

stops when they're far enough inside the mansion, not bothering to let caleb's hand go as he turns slightly to look at him. ]

Well, here we are. [ a pause, as if his excitement was slowly wearing off. ] Again.

[ his grip on nathan's hand tightens as excitement starts to bubble over, taking the physical form of a slight shake. expression goes a little glazed as he starts inspecting the mansion via mental map, mouth open in a slight 'o' of wonderment. ]

Nathan! Room! Lots! Wow!!

[ rolls his eyes as he tries to not look too amused. ]

You've seen it before.

[ gives a little insistent tug, already picking out a few rooms that he wants to explore in detail. ]

Ja, but not look close because family is here. See close now!

[ flushes slightly at his excitement, allowing himself to be tugged to wherever caleb wants to go. ]

Y-yeah, but...

[ then just lets it go at that with a sigh, deeming it a lost cause. ]

[ starts a beeline for the one of the large open spaces -- a study? -- as he pulls nathan along gently. ]

House is part of Nathan, so I want to see.

[ wants to say something about not knowing much about the mansion himself, never really having the chance or will to look in great detail. silently decides it's best to just nod a bit and move along, craning his head around to peer at their surroundings in some kind of childish curiosity. ]

[ hears the slight hesitance as a hitch in breathing. almost runs into a wall when he automatically glances back. doesn't pay that near-accident any mind, however, his excitement toning down a bit as he tugs nathan closer to his side in reassurance. ]

Where go first?

[ feels slightly embarrassed at the close proximity but does not move, instead looking up at caleb with a blink as he bumps into him gently. ]

Anywhere you wanna go?

Um... [ pauses, trying to think of something else. ] The backyard is nice at night?

[ his initial excitement of discovering & exploring steadily starts to die down after the first solid hour of non-stop exclamations of wonder, the exhaustion settling in. finds himself unconsciously leading them back to the door that had let them into the gardens, managing the stairs with only one or two stumbles. he glances up at their arrival to the entrance-exit & then droops a little. despite knowing the state of his body, & that it is safer (healthier) to draw a close to the exploration, he gives the gardens a dejected look as he knows that there is still much more left to see.

gives the hand connected to his a little squeeze as he forces himself to say: ]

Erm. Is good to sleep. . .

[ feels a bit tired himself, for both the physical aspect of their trek around the gardens and the mental/emotional mix that soared up and down throughout only a handful of hours. the exhaustion is finally taking its toll on his own body, sort of dragging his feet back inside when they reach the road to their final destination. ]

Y-yeah... probably...

[ glances down at nathan, tilting his head a little to gauge a few things. then gives another squeeze to the hand before leading them back into the mansion. ]

I go home. See tomorrow?

... [ reaches up to knock him on the head lightly. ]

No. Aren't you supposed to be staying with me, doofus?

[ starts a bit. ]

Ehh. . . I sleep with Nathan?

[ looks up at him, drooping a little. ]

Sure. Why wouldn't you?

[ notices the slight drooping, making him shake his head rapidly. ]

Nein, nein! I want to stay with Nathan!

Erm. . .

[ tilts his head a little, then just decides to say it upfront: ] Is okay with Nathan family in house?

[ freezes. looks around rapidly as he begins to panic. even if something in the back of his mind already knows who it is he can't help but shout: ]

W-WHO'S HOME? [ turns to caleb, taking him by the arms and shaking him a bit. ] CALEB WHO CAME BACK?

E- Ehh. . . erm. . . big person? Male. . .

[ finishes it off with a statement he somehow feels would seal the deal: ]

[ can't help but scream a little, slapping his hands to his mouth when he realizes what he just did. the only thoughts running through his head right now is why the hell is he here and where the hell do i go he sees everything. manages to keep himself from doing anything more than flailing, motions that wouldn't make sense to any sane person. squeaks out as lowly as his voice could possibly dare go: ]

W-where is he, where is he?!

[ doesn't even bother to wait for a response; darts back and forth like a chicken with its head cut off, grabbing caleb's hand again to start dragging him off in a random direction. hears footsteps and quickly looks around, sees the closest door before shoving caleb in, slamming the door shut, then leaning his back against it. ]

[ isn't entirely sure why he's going down this particular hallway other than an insistent instinct for him to do so. is actually headed for his study where he believes he had put whatever it is that he came back to retrieve when he spots nathan to the side, flushed & ...

raises an amused eyebrow. ]
