[ yawns and stretches as he sits on the edge of the bed, his back to the female who is slowly starting to get dressed. flops backwards to peer up at her, giving some snide remark before she pops him on the nose with a hand in retribution. forgoes the shirt he was reaching for, instead rolling off the mattress to playfully plead with her to stay for a few more hours, though the joke is already lost once she steps into the bathroom to fix her hair.

grins a bit at that but dutifully moves out of her way, making a beeline back to his bedroom. lazily scratches at his already-frizzy hair as he leans against the doorway, not paying much attention to anything in particular. eventually his expression grows dimmer, eyes going up to the ceiling before they narrow slightly. finds himself unable to throw away the feeling of uneasiness that nestles into the pit of his stomach, almost as if something terrible had happened without him knowing. ]

[ eyes flicker elsewhere for a split second. puffs out his chest a bit after the brief faltering. ]

Sure, with the ladies.

[ relaxes a bit when the topic is more familiar. ]

You're very loved. Says the rumour mill.

[ chews on his sandwich some more and shrugs. ]

Eh, I guess.

[ peers at. ]

Untrue?

[ waves the sandwich around a bit, just for show. ]

True in a lot of ways, but I wouldn't call it "loved" or "spoiled". You reserve that for special people in your life.

. . . [ leans away a little to slump against the armrest, mumbling quietly, almost to himself. ]

Like you, then.

[ picks up on it easily enough due to their proximity. places his food on the plate, gaze fond and gentle as he lifts a hand to brush it up against anthony's face. ]

Like you, too.

[ turns his head to nuzzle against the hand a little, lifting his own to grasp at it. shakes his head, feeling a surge of uncharacteristic frustration. ]

No. You're-- Just. [ sighs, releases tony's hand. ] More than you know.

[ keeps his hand there, thumb slowly stroking the skin. releases it soon enough but keeps his eyes on anthony regardless. ]

I can know you care without knowing the reasons behind it, can't I?

[ turns to look at him through the corner of his eyes, expression a little conflicted. ]

There aren't any reasons.

[ shrugs awkwardly, feeling like he's spilling too much yet compelled to admit this. ]

But if. . . if there is one. Then probably. . . because you're you.

...

[ when he's had his moment to think he scoots a bit closer, wrapping an arm around anthony's shoulders. the touch is unintrusive, enough to be open for him to do as he wishes. just pulls him close regardless, his nose pressing itself into a patch of hair. ]

Mm. Thank you.

[ shivers a bit, but loops his arms around tony's middle, wishing he could bring himself to say more. sighs quietly. ]

. . . Welcome.

[ rests his chin on top of anthony's head, using his other arm to circle around and connect at the hands. holds him loosely, the slow rocking motions he makes almost too light to be noticed. ]

I'm happy that you're my friend, Anthony. Really happy that we share the same name. [ a pause. chuckles a bit. ] Sort of. Means we're even more connected, yeah?

[ exhales a resigned, amused sound. ]

. . . Mm. Connected. As long as possible would be nice.

[ shrugs a bit. ]

Well, s'long as you'll have me. I mean I know I'm kind of a handful but I swear I can be potty-trained, so don't send me back to the pound just yet, 'kay?

[ rolls his eyes up toward tony's face when he feels his expression is more neutral, shaking a hand free to jab him in the customary spot between the eyebrows. ]

Maybe. If you stop growing.

[ laughs even as he's poked. ]

I think I grew an inch last time I checked!

Bad Skippy.

[ looks down at his expression... then slowly smiles a bit wider, immediately attempting to school it as best as he can. hangs his head to both hide the smile and pretend to be crestfallen at the jab. ]

Awoo...

[ frees both hands down so that he can lean away a tad to ruffle tony's hair, expression softening. ]

Sulking?

[ nudges that hand with his head, giving a few whimper-like sounds. ]

[ continues to pet at him gently. then tugs tony's head down a little so that he can connect their foreheads. ]

Don't worry. You're still loved.

[ still wears a pitiful expression though it's slowly letting up with the shift in contact. ]
