[ he's not sure how, but he's absolutely certain that it's one of those mornings where waking up would be a Bad Idea. even when he's only half-awake, he can feel the dull throb in his head, signaling the presence of a progressively worsening migraine. presses a hand to his forehead gingerly as he peeks open one eye. shuts it immediately when the light amplifies the headache even further. somehow manages to roll over onto his side with a soft groan, expression twisting into one of pain as he patterns out his breathing.

several minutes later, reattempts at opening his eyes. is successful this time, leaving him to blink owlishly at the blurry image of the (foreign-but-not) room laid out before him. jerks bodily when he realizes that this is not his room, but tony's. doesn't quite get to the point of throwing himself off the bed, however, hindered quite successfully by the pounding headache. feels slightly better upon realizing that tony's strangely absent, filling him with a sense of hope that he can get away unscathed. as such, he stubbornly pushes down the memories as he wraps his arms around his head, concentrating on breathing & recovering so that he can escape as soon as possible. ]

[ runs his hand through the strands a few more times. ]

Want ice cream before we go home?

「 Yes please. 」

[ & then he pockets his phone so that he can wrap an arm around anthony's middle, burying his nose into him softly. ]

[ initially, his response consisted only of a blink of confusion when he receives that hug, even when his arms wrap around hiro in instinct. the smile deepens, however, once his thoughts catch up to him. tightens the hold on the younger boy as he bends considerably to rub his nose into hiro's hair in a returning gesture. ]

Thanks.

[ keeps himself like that for a while longer, enjoying both the contact and the comfort it brings. pushes his head upward when he feels like it's okay to, releasing the arm from around anthony so that he can use that hand to type: ]

「 You're okay now? 」

[ jerks a little in surprise, straightening to stare down at hiro in silence. draws a quiet breath inward before answering. ]

. . . Yeah. I'm okay now. [ short pause. ] At least, I'm feeling better.

[ takes his hand with a few fingers, tugging on the limb gently. ]

「 Does onii-chan want to talk about it? 」 [ pauses to add on: ] 「 I'm a good listener. 」

[ expression drops a little bit when he finds himself remembering again, but he manages to shake himself out of it while pulling himself out of hiro's grasp slowly. then bends down to his knees again to be at hiro's height while curling his fingers around the younger boy's own. stares at him for a moment & almost shakes his head in a dismissive manner before he stops. thinks. then decides to condense the ~~drama~~ mess into a few sentences instead while keeping his expression as neutral as possible: ]

I hurt someone I like. And when I told this person that I liked them, they. . . they left. They're in France right now.

[ considers asking about that first bit, realizing that it won't do much good if anthony already looked a bit sad. settles down onto the ground fully, pointing for the elder of the two to do the same as he begins to type into his cellphone. ]

「 You're sure that they left because you told them that you like them? 」

[ obeys the silent command & lowers himself completely onto the floor as well, crossing his legs. reads the words slowly & turns his gaze downward. ]

. . . No. I can't be sure, but they left the day after. Right after.

[ types in hmmm without looking at the screen, as if on habit. looks back down at it when a thought strikes him. ]

「 Did they contact you yet? 」

[ nods slowly. ]

Yeah, they called me.

「 Then they aren't mad at you, so you shouldn't be sad. 」 [ stops to delete that after showing anthony & then types: ] 「 They still care about you enough to say something. That's good. 」

[ hesitates, but eventually finds himself able to smile in a relieved manner. reaches over to ruffle at hiro's hair fondly while giving him a small nod. ]

. . . When they come back. . . I'll talk to them. About everything, properly.

[ takes a sip of his orange juice before setting it down, using that hand to tug on anthony's sleeve like the typically does when he gets excited over something. ]

「 I know you can do it. I'll cheer you on. 」

[ once again gives the ground a hesitant glance, but soon he's on his knees so that he can scoot closer. places his hands on hiro's shoulders so that he can tug the boy closer against him. murmurs quietly: ]

Thank you, little brother.

[ blinks up a him a little, flushing happily at those words. doesn't think he needs his cellphone to convey his feeling and thoughts at the moment, placing that down so that he can use both his arms to hug anthony tightly. ]

[ presses his lips to the top of hiro's head. draws his head back, but doesn't retreat the embrace. loosens his grip, however, so that it's a more comfortable pose for the both of them. doesn't speak otherwise, closing his eyes as he lets any lingering tension dribble away during this moment. ]

[ keeps on holding on for a while longer, burying into him further. it's only when he hears a CRASH downstairs that he moves, merely pulling his face away to turn his head towards the direction of the door to blink out his confusion. ]

... ?

[ also pulls back, his smile rapidly disappearing into a more typical look. ]

Uh-oh.

[ gives the door one more look before turning his eyes back to anthony, tilting his head in a silent question. ]

[ ruffles his hair & begins to pull away. ]

That'd be my boss. I should get back to work.

[ blinks and then nods, pulling away fully. settles back down on the floor properly, staring up at anthony for a moment longer in silence. grabs his cellphone again to finally "speak": ]

「 I'll stay up here. 」

[ dusts his pants off, then glances at the words. turns his eyes back to hiro's face. ]

You're sure? Boss doesn't mind if you're with us.

[ nods in reply, quickly whipping out the black and red DS from his pocket. ]

「 I've got this. 」

[ nods & stretches a bit. ]

Okay. I'll come get you when it's time to go home.
