[ the weeks seemed to drag by so slowly for him whilst robert were away, having little-to-no interest in the happenings around him throughout the duration of the other boy's leave. more often than not he would be seated by his window, gaze locked on the path that robert would surely return on. it was there that he stayed for most of his days, leaving it only to eat, bathe, or when his mother summoned him. regardless he would put on a smile for those around him, as if nothing was amiss and would say that his brother would surely return soon, that he would be gone for only a short while.

that short while turned into weeks. months. far longer than robert had ever been gone before. on his bad days he wondered if his brother had grown tired of his position (of their situation) and thus would not return for good, but those thoughts were always shadowed by the hope and faith he had in his prince. surely the day of his return would come.

opens his eyes slowly when the sound of music reaches his ears again, lifting his gaze back up towards the crowd of dancing people before him. after some time of simply gazing he sits up straighter in his chair, the one that is forever to his mother's right. does not look at her as she speaks to someone, his curiosity nonexistent. instead he raises his glass and slips at the liquid inside, going back to his silent thinking (of robert, of other things that had been on his mind for quite some while) as a somewhat glazed look overcomes his features once more. ]

I have absolutely no idea what you speak of.

[ & with that he wanders completely out of view, presumably to get situated for bed. ]

[ shakes her head some, remaining seated where she is for a moment to allow annabelle enough to undress & prepare himself for bed. when she feels that enough time has passed, she pushes herself back onto her feet to lazily make her way to the attached bedroom. leans against the doorway with her arms crossed. ]

So? Your verdict?

[ doesn't turn away from the mirror he's looking into, too busy concentrating on brushing his hair out. ]

On what, exactly?

Will you be sleeping, or spoiling me?

[ finally shifts in his seat, turning only slightly so that he can smile over at her. ]

Hmm. Perhaps I will be generous and go with the latter tonight.

[ quirks a small smirk. ]

Generous indeed. I'm quite flattered to be recipient of such generosity.

As you should. [ sets aside his brush, facing her fully. ] Not many are allowed to feel such affection from someone such as I.

As well as feel the fate's blessing in keeping your brother unavailable to monopolize your attentions.

Mmm, yes, he would be quite upset to see such things, after all.

Quite upset is a rather severe understatement.

What would you be willing to call it, then?

Murderous.

Oh dear... we will have to keep this a very well-kept secret, then.

That would be much appreciated.

[ at that he smiles gently, lifting his arms up a bit before speaking. ]

Come here.

[ raises a brow in curiosity before she dislodges herself from the doorway to make way toward annabelle. ]

Yes, princess?

[ takes her hands into both of his own when she's close enough. ]

Have you forgotten already? You are to be spoiled. You must be close enough to allow me to spoil you.

[ grips at his hand back gently. ]

In this position? It's rather uncomfortable, no?

[ hums in consideration. ]

Then where shall we go, Alicia?

Hmm. . . [ glances around a little, then gives a short shrug before plopping herself down onto the floor in front of annabelle. looks up, smiles. ]

Here, like this, should suffice, I suppose.

[ laughs lightly at that, removing his hands from hers to place them into her hair gently. ]

"I suppose", she says.

[ leans slightly against that hand. ]

It's passable at best.

[ quirks an eyebrow, his voice taking on a teasing edge as he begins to stroke her hair. ]

And quite fitting, correct?

[ rests her head lightly against one of annabelle's knee, eyes closing as her voice drops a touch. ]

Yes. It is as it should be.
