[ as the limousine steadily makes its way towards the masquerade brianna primps and preens. she isn't too worried about her appearance, already knowing that her gown, hair, and overall appearance is perfect, simply doing said fidgeting in order to keep herself busy. ]

[ snaps the compact shut and puts it back into her clutch purse, setting it aside before sparing a glance over to her date for the night. the look on her face is that of anticipation, yet there's some sort of amusement playing across her features as well. ]

[ finally another thought strikes him. instead of looking sad or dejected any further his expression seems to light up a bit, a soft, far-off look on his face, though there's no smile present. ]

... my family doesn't mind. [ pauses, allowing himself to feel a little bit warm inside. ] I'm fine like this.

[ blinks in surprise at his words. carefully lifts a hand, hesitating briefly before placing a hand into his, the feeling familiar yet not at the same time. ]

[ the grip is neither firm nor gentle, somewhere in the middle. almost ghost-like as he leads them both through the multiplied crowd toward a quieter area.

once protected by the shadows & several, well-placed angles, he extracts his hand & places both on the boy's face, keeping it up as he leans down. lips nearly touching, whispers. ]

Be calm, and do try to heed my next words carefully.

[ is once again surprised and now tense at the close proximity, at first flinching slightly in response. swallows hard, finally feeling uneasy.

since he can't really find anything to say (how could he?) and can't move his head his eyes speak for him; dismay, perhaps a small hint of fear, his attention focused intensely on albert despite these feelings. ]

when he finally speaks it's softer and quieter, matching albert's own tone, though at first he voices his thoughts as if he's saying them more to himself than the other. ]

He... told me once what "special" meant. To h-have someone special to you.

He said that it would h-hurt--right here--if they left. That it would hurt everywhere, because you don't want to lose that person.

[ he shuts his eyes sadly in somewhat disappointment with himself, arms lowering. seems to shift back into a state of shyness, flushing slightly from what he assumes is a mistake. ]
