[ it felt like bad luck the moment his cellphone rang and woke him up after four hours of sleep. it felt like even worse luck when said person on the other line told nathan that he would be saying hello to their fifth and final member to the 'team'-- alone, which was apparently due to personal reasons from his other three co-workers. this did not deter nathan from furiously texting aaron in anger, only to get a short can't come as a reply. he didn't even bother texting hana, as she still had difficulties texting with an english-language phone, but he still called her and got her voicemail message, which only made him seethe even further.

the anger eventually subsided when coffee was deposited into his hands, drinking his life force happily (or as happy as nathan could get) while turning the corner from starbucks to sit on one of the many chairs littering the front of the shop. once he settled in and tossed his bag onto the table, nathan finally felt like all was right in the world, completely forgetting his original objective for the day. his coffee was his second love, after all, and it deserved his complete and undivided attention. ]

[ cocks his head to the side to look at him, correcting him briefly, as if it's a natural occurrence by now. ]

"What does Nathan do".

[ returns to staring at the ceiling. ]

... I work? Uh. Drink coffee. That's about it.

[ looks amused, but is also on automatic when once again -- ]

What does Nathan do.

[ & then nods, understanding & in full agreement. ]

Ja, work is important. Do good for people, and I am proud that I am help.

[ gives another pat. ]

But you is -- erm, are? -- people too. Do good things for Nathan too.

[ inhales and exhales through his nose, almost feeling as if he could (would) explain things to caleb if it were possible. holds himself back, however, reminding himself that there are several reasons not to; is just caught up in the moment, that thought alone jerking him out of dangerous waters. ]

It doesn't really matter.

[ rolls over so that he's fully facing caleb again, propping his head up with a hand. ]

Are you hungry?

[ quiet for a moment, but gets distracted by the question soon enough. ]

Not a lot hungry. Eat at Kaffee place, ja? But I eat if Nathan eat. Is Nathan hungry?

[ lets his eyes wander, a tad embarrassed when he admits his lack of ideas. ]

No, I was just... thinking of what to do. Don't ever have people come over, so...

[ shakes his head. ]

Come to people's house is not normal to me, too.

... great.

[ flops on his back again, doing some more of that thinking stuff. ]

[ finally lifts his hands when he has an idea, motioning as if he has a game controller in his hands. ]

Do you play video games?

Games? I like games, yes!

[ sighs in some kind of relief, using it as an anchor as he sits up again. stretches a bit before padding on over to his large widescreen tv, rummaging around to pull out his xbox and two controllers.

sets it neatly next to the tv, opening up the storage where he keeps his games. pulls them out, sets them down, then stares at the selection thoughtfully. ]

What kind of stuff do you like to play?

[ gets off the bed so that he can pick up one of the controllers, turning it over in his hands experimentally. ]

I play Tetris? And, erm, Pokemon?

... [ would laugh at that if he could, so he settles on his default "are you kidding me?" expression. ] Don't think the Xbox has any of those. Maybe Tetris, but I don't have that.

[ picks up a few, examines them, then shrugs and puts a random one in. ]

Ever played a first person shooter game?

Shooter? [ small pause to translate this, followed by an 'oh!' moment. ]

Gun game?

[ reaches over to press the button that turns on the wireless remote control for caleb, going on his knees for a split second to turn on the tv. ]

Something like that, yeah. It has zombies in it.

[ sits down with his back against the bed, looking thoughtful. ]

Nein, did not play shooter in game. Is good game?

Pretty good, yeah. I mean, some people say that it's better on a PC, but I--

[ stops right there, realizing that he'll be wasting his breath if caleb can't really understand what he's saying. just sits where he's at, selecting the option that starts the game. ]

[ had only heard up to 'pretty good', busily trying to adjust himself to the onslaught of new noise. eventually able to glance at nathan so that he can mirror the positioning of the controller in what he believes to be the correct way. ]

What is trigger?

[ was sort of getting into it when he hears caleb's question, prying his eyes away from the tv to properly look at him. ]

Oh, uh. It means to release and pull. Familiar with those words?
