[ exactly three and a half months later alyssa returned from her trip with her parents, feeling refreshed and rather happy in the face of what she considered a new beginning. the change of scenery was needed, as well as the lost (& hopefully only brief) contact between friends gave her more of a reason to keep going on strong; to mend things, to make things right again.

it is now that she returns to the campus, having decided that it was best to move back in with her parents for the time being. thinks she merely missed home too much to properly focus on things that needed to be focused on, knowing that the change was necessary and very much so welcomed (from her dad especially). at the moment she resides under one of the trees a bit further out from the building where her first class was held in, contently reading a book to pass the hours until her next class started. flips through it leisurely, eyes trained to focus on that and nothing more. tucks a strand of now-short hair behind an ear, feeling calm and at peace with the world as a whole. ]

[ expression quickly falls, her shoulders following suit. ]

But... I'm just trying to do something nice...

[ starts at the sudden shift, blinking. accepts the ice cream out of her hands. ]

. . . And I'm teasing?

[ stares at him a bit blankly, slowly letting her gaze drop to the floor. almost looks like she wants to say or do something for a moment, but in the end she munches on her ice cream and shuffles back towards the exit. ]

[ sighs & rubs at his forehead in an oncoming bout of confused frustration before he propels himself to follow after her again. once he's closer to being side-by-side, tilts his ice cream toward her. ]

[ turns her attention to him again, blinking down at the ice cream. ]

What kind is it?

[ points to the appropriate colours as he speaks. ]

Strawberry, rainbow sherbet, mango.

[ beams and leans in to take a bite out of it. licks her lips, smiling at him when she decides that she likes it. ]

It's really good!

[ nods & takes a bite of his own. ]

Good combination.

[ goes back to noming on her own, a thought striking her at the last minute. lifts her ice cream towards him, leaving the leftovers of her own last bite still on her mouth and lips as she smiles up at him happily. ]

Try mine? It's really good too.

[ doesn't respond immediately, but eventually he leans in to take a small bite. makes a thoughtful sound while giving her a small smile to signal clearly that he's joking. ]

[ then peels off the tissue around his own cone to hand it over to her, nudging it upward toward her face. ]

Ice cream. On your mouth.

[ blinks at herself, trying to look and see the mess. ends up just leaning forward a bit, as if he's supposed to wipe it off for her. ]

[ a quick flicker of emotion passes his face before he wipes the ice cream off. tosses the tissue in the closest trash that they pass by soon after. ]

Really. Lyssa Claus.

[ puffs out her cheeks at his words. gets an idea, quickly wiping a finger against her ice cream to put it underneath anthony's nose. ]

Hmph! Look who's talking now, Anthony Claus.

[ blinks. ]

Ho ho ho. All those little elves are mine.

Oh right. [ dramatic pause. ]

[ reaches up to pinch one of his cheeks. ]

[ shakes himself free to lean away, rubbing at his abused cheek. ]

All your toys belong to me?

[ looks down at her ice cream, eating that in between talking. ]

Well, yeah... Santa takes toys from the elves that make them, right? Then he gives them away to good boys and girls.
