[ a party at the end of finals was something alyssa had not been entirely interested in, merely shaking her head a little bit shyly when the offer was brought to her attention in class one day. of course, this was before anthony had shrugged and said they should go since the opportunity was there. why not? was what alyssa got out of it, prompting her to quickly agree with some hesitation despite herself. and this was why the girl sat tucked into a corner of one of the couches in the room, tapping the cup in her hands a little for no reason in particular other than giving herself something to do.

with her feet moving back and forth to the music that plays overhead, she sips her (thankfully untouched) punch slowly, eyes glancing around at all the students that are mingling in small groups here and there. a part of her wasn't sure why people were watching her and anthony closely every now and then, as if they knew something that she did not. nonetheless she continues to sit there in silence, glancing down at her phone every now and then to see if she has any texts from nathan-- she was sure he would be doing that throughout the duration of her stay. ]

[ shakes his head & tightens his hold even further, face dropping a little. as he vaguely manages to register the expression (the tone), he falls back onto his defense mechanism -- babbling, despite it coming out twisted due to the alcohol in his system. ]

I'm sorry! It was Elmo! The oreos weren't safe there, so I had Pikachu take them to the 9-1-1!

[ looks away when he feels anthony tightening his hold, ignoring the babble as he makes another face. when the two guys behind him start making some lewd comments and catcalls to the other boy he snaps his head towards them, giving them a not-so friendly look. ]

Hey, leave him alone.

[ turns back to anthony, expression softening a little. bends slightly to try once again to pry him off, only to grimace and hold his head away when the smell of alcohol burns his sense of smell. ]

Jesus christ, Anthony, how much did you drink?

[ ignores the others, focusing solely on the boy in front of him. pushes his face into his chest even further. ]

Don't know. Lost track? I fell into the chocolate factory.

...

[ lifts a hand and lets it hover over anthony's head, at a loss of what to do. reaches behind himself to finally break the hold on him, only to place his hands on his shoulders to keep anthony stead. ]

Quite a lot, then, huh.

[ lets go obediently, swaying back as much as he can to nod. ]

I kissed people. The world sucks!

Huh. [ lets go of him. ] Sounds like fun.

[ looks alarmed, immediately latching onto both of his upper arms with his hands. ]

No! No, don't. . . d-don't go. Yet.

[ gives a passing glance to the two behind him, turning back only when they wander off and away. gives anthony a considering gaze before he inhales, then exhales slowly. ]

... sure.

[ inhales. exhales. slowly, cautiously, lets him go. sways a little as he watches him through his drunken haze. lifts a hand, drops it. blinks once, then lifts his hand again to pinch at tony's nose experimentally. ]

. . . You're real?

[ lifts a hand to gently remove anthony's hand from its hold, shaking his head a little at his antics. ]

Of course I am.

[ the instant contact is broken, he blurts out: ]

I'm. . . sorry. I'm sorry. [ sniffles, hiccups. ] I'm sorry. I'm sorry!

I went to mommy, caught a Pikachu, but the world still sucks! I'm sorry!

[ pauses to wipe at his eyes pathetically. hiccups again. ]

I. . . I can't forgive me either, but at least. At the very least, I wanted to t-tell you something. . .

[ has to avert his eyes away when anthony starts to blubber, trying to deny any kind of eye contact throughout his tiny speech. but the last part makes him blink and turn back in curiosity, though his shoulders drop a little bit at the pathetic sight, returning to baseline as best as possible as he asks: ]

What is it, then?

[ lifts a hand, trying to grab a hold of tony's shirt. blinks when he misses. drops his hand. ]

I. . . it's that. . . um. . .

[ seems to have gathered his wits for just a moment, struggling past the stupor when even his (sub)conscious recognizes that he shouldn't screw this up. takes a deep breath. ]

This is important. I'm not lying. Or. . . or making this up.

[ raises his hands to rest them gently against tony's cheeks, his fingers a little cold. draws tony forward while he himself tilts upward, pressing their forehead together. ]

I--

. . . D-Damn it, this isn't how it's-- it's-- how it goes!

[ snarls something incoherent afterward, deciding to show tony via action. draws their faces even closer so that he can smash their lips together, keeping the kiss in place firmly, for a long enough time to show that it's serious. ]

[ draws back. hands slide off tony's face at a slow pace, fingertips tracing the outline of the boy's face. ]

I love you, goddamn it. I love you. So much. For so long. It's-- It's too much s-some-- all-- but it's. Been so long, I. . .

[ then, when his hands drop away entirely, the alcohol hits him again. but his face goes bright red anyway while he flails his hands in front of him a little. ]

. . . I am done saying everything I needed to say! Haha! O-Okay, good-bye! Next adventure a-awaits! I'm sorry! G-Guys and g-g-girls waiting for-- for Tony-- I'm going to go find a ditch.

[ turns & begins to walk off. ]

[ the brief shock he feels from everything hitting him at once makes him jerk a little, though not enough to tear anthony's hands away from his face when he still has a hold on him. just lets him do his thing, not looking too startled despite something nagging him in the back of his mind. looks down at him, expression dropping a little at his confession, allowing himself to think about things that he would rather not address at this moment in time. ]

...

[ & then he's back to normal when anthony begins to move away, making him reach out and grab the collar of his shirt. ]

And where do you think you're going?

[ chokes. ]

HRK--! Ditch?!

[ just holds him there, sounding unimpressed. ]

You're gonna get yourself hurt.
