[ he's not really surprised to come home to an empty house, even on a saturday. he doesn't even need to call riku to know where he is; instead, he rolls his eyes to the ceiling in a long-suffering manner as he moves over the kitchen table to set the costco-bought cookies for riku's monday class. then he goes about his usual rituals: checking the fridge, making a note on the portable white-board on what they need to go shopping for, pouring himself a bowl of cereal & peeking in the bathroom to check on the ducks.

he spends a good ten minutes petting them (quack, quack) before he remembers the cereal -- now soggy. but he eats it anyway, slipping on his reading glasses to flip through the latest science journal that sora had received a free subscription while tucked into the corner of the couch, waiting for riku to get home. ]

[ stretches out his legs a bit before getting to his feet. ]

Do you want help?

[ also gets to his feet, smiling down at him as he begins his trek back to the kitchen. ]

If you'd like, yeah.

[ trails after him. ]

What do you want me to do?

Stand there and look pretty. [ opens the fridge when he arrives, peering in. ] I like a good-looking audience.

I'll just be taking up room in the kitchen then.

[ lifts an arm to rest it on top of rob's head, making his point clear as he says: ]

You're small. You'll be fine.

[ scowls & bats at the arm. ]

How many times do I need to repeat this?

[ snorts and leans down to kiss him on the forehead, finally removing himself to continue his fridge-searching. ]

Anything in specific you'd like in your soup, oh demanding one?

[ leans against the far side of the counter, arms crossing. ]

Not really. As long as it tastes good.

[ offers a small huff, nabbing a few things before closing the fridge. ]

My food always tastes good.

[ puts a hand over the lower half of his face to hide his smile a bit. ]

I know.

[ quirks an eyebrow down at him, a small smile forming. moves over to the sink to dump whatever vegetables they had in the fridge into it. rolls up his sleeves. ]

Want to peel carrots?

I thought I just had to look pretty?

[ hands over a carrot. ]

Don't worry, you'll always be pretty to me.

[ takes it without any complaint, though he raises an eyebrow. ]

What if the Elf Potion runs out?

[ shakes his head, beginning to chop some potatoes as he speaks. ]

Doesn't matter. You'll still be you.

[ steps closer to the counter to start his own work. ]

. . . It might be eternity. Do you know how long that might be?

Forever, for all time, endless, always; I'm aware. Still doesn't change anything.

[ steps in closer, not touching (since riku's holding a knife), but close enough. ]

Mm. I guess the up side to this is that you'll never bald.

[ seems to chop with a little more force than necessary at rob's words. ]

Yeah. So a certain somebody should stop making those jokes.

He'd stop in a few decades if you stopped indulging him, you know.
