[ of course, as it turns out, the one thing that she's forgotten to mention to lyssa was the fact that she didn't really have a convenient method of transportation. all she'd asked for the location & time, thinking that would have been enough. of course it hadn't been.

... oh well.

hooking her small messenger bag-slash-purse on her shoulder, she bids her dad goodbye after reassuring him that she'll be back by ten (yes, yes, don't worry, just the mall--). & promptly feels glad that she left two hours before the time she's supposed to meet lyssa 'cause she just missed the bus & the next one won't be arriving for another half-hour. she settles down, pews & waits. long story short (after she subtracts the bus ride & all the weird things her hair is doing in the humidity), she manages to get to the mall in once piece: none of her organs are missing, her dress isn't ripped up, & no one had shoved her head down a toilet. day's pretty good so far (where's wood to knock on when she needed some?). 'cept the fact that she's probably a few minutes late, but--

... oh well.

she'll apologize to lyssa as soon as she can find him. ]

I got paid the other day. [ so she can treat herself and lyssa! could she do that? ]

The boss is nice. [ but short. & prone to more waterworks than her on a bad pms month, but that's likely a personality thing... but he's nice & seems fair, which is the most important thing.

Well, if you're determined to learn, then I doubt you'll have any problems with that. Glad the boss isn't a jerk, though. You're lucky to have snagged someone nice.

Yeah. It was my dad's suggestion. [ sometimes, they work out. very few sometimes... ]

Your dad knows what he's doing most of the time, so I'm not surprised. [ pauses, thinking. ] Maybe I should get a part time job, too...

Where would you want to work?

Maybe... an art gallery? Or a clothing store! I would get a first look at what the general population would be wearing, so that's perfect, right?

There are many horror stories. About retail. [ working there, especially... be careful, lyssa! she knows he can handle himself, but retail is the devil. not that she'd know from experience, since she only had to step into the interview room to be told to go home... ]

[ frowns at that, ~~hearing her monologue~~ catching on easily enough. lifts the hand he has on her shoulder to instead stroke her ~~poof~~ hair. ]

They just like people from this time period, that's all...

[ the poof may be bouncing a little. ]

I was born seventeen years ago. Not a generation gap yet.

[ opens his mouth, closes it. do i say it or not...

I-- I'm sure you'd fit right in at an antique store instead!

They'll take out my kidneys if I drop anything. . . [ & that'd be horrible. she's pretty sure her father is going to need some kind of organ donation in the future. if not a kidney, then a liver or something like that.

... she must put him on a stricter diet. ]

I think the little old ladies that work there would rather have your hips instead...

We have hip bone donations now too?

Older people always complain about their back or hips, and with modern medicine, I wouldn't be surprised if they did. [ thinks for a short moment. ] Maybe I should ask Michael... he'd totally know.

[ michael is lyssa's robot, right? the real-life one? ]

Robots know everything. [ because they're robots. beautiful, beautiful robots. ]

[ takes out his cellphone with his free hand, deciding to just text him. speaks as he types: ]

No. [ androids aren't better, because androids are just people built out of metal. best to just stuff a living person with a metal heart, lungs & other organs, etcetra... nope, not better. that's like copying a copyrighted idea. it's a bad thing. only it's worse because it's copying a copyrighted bad idea. ]

Is it 'cause you're only attracted to robots? [ hits send on his phone, sighing and pocketing it. ] That's why I thought you'd be perfect for each other...

I like ponies too. [ she likes michael 'cause he's a robot. not an android. ]

Yeah, but I think there are laws that state that you can't be in a romantic relationship with a pony.

Ponies can love ponies. [ she can just admire them from afar. lots of people do that with other animals, so why can't she? ]

I'm talking about for you, though, not other ponies!
