[ of course, as it turns out, the one thing that she's forgotten to mention to lyssa was the fact that she didn't really have a convenient method of transportation. all she'd asked for the location & time, thinking that would have been enough. of course it hadn't been.

... oh well.

hooking her small messenger bag-slash-purse on her shoulder, she bids her dad goodbye after reassuring him that she'll be back by ten (yes, yes, don't worry, just the mall--). & promptly feels glad that she left two hours before the time she's supposed to meet lyssa 'cause she just missed the bus & the next one won't be arriving for another half-hour. she settles down, pews & waits. long story short (after she subtracts the bus ride & all the weird things her hair is doing in the humidity), she manages to get to the mall in once piece: none of her organs are missing, her dress isn't ripped up, & no one had shoved her head down a toilet. day's pretty good so far (where's wood to knock on when she needed some?). 'cept the fact that she's probably a few minutes late, but--

... oh well.

she'll apologize to lyssa as soon as she can find him. ]

I'll give him some of my fries once in a while. [ pauses briefly as he turns a corner. ] But if I don't stick around, does he have anyone else that can keep an eye on him?

[ thinks for a moment, then nods slowly. ]

I think so. [ tofu, maybe. but putting her dad & tofu together made her worry even more. maybe her aunt...? dad's brothers? hmm. ]

Good. I can officially leave the country feeling a little less guilty, then!

[ blinks in surprise. ]

Really? [ lyssa wanted to leave the country? ... she didn't know this. while that's okay ('cause lyssa really didn't have to tell her everything), it would've been nice to have gotten a head-start on a farewell present...

maybe she could give him a pony? nah. a gundam... maybe not. a new bag? but he could probably get new bags wherever he was going. oh, maybe a dreidel? he likes those, right? ]

[ while she's monologuing, he's busy shrugging and turning yet another corner. ]

If I happen to get accepted to a school overseas, yes. My mom and dad are taking me to London in the summer to check out the ones I applied for. I'll probably stay here, though.

What if you get accepted both places? [ because knowing lyssa, he will be. ]

[ rolls his eyes upward toward the ceiling of the car when they're at a red light, thinking... then beams over at her. ]

I'll just go to your school, then!

[ please write even when you go to london-- oh.

blinks again. ]

My mom's school? [ really? but it's not ivy league or anything. or even particularly well-known--? ]

Sure! In fact, I'll send in an application the moment I get home. That's okay, right?

[ but... was it good enough for lyssa? --or rather, did it have the programs that lyssa wanted? ]

It's okay. [ if lysas's sure, then. well. it's not like she can say no. she likes having lyssa around & close-by, but friends shouldn't block the way to success for friends... ]

Wonderful! [ leans over to kiss the top of her head before returning to center, driving down the street again when the light turns green. ] Who knows, we might even share the same dorm building.

[ if that's what lyssa wants, then lyssa's dad will probably make that a reality.

just nods, tilting in contentment. ]

Crossing fingers and toes.

[ briefly flashes a thumbs up, leaving it at that for now. it's only a minute later that they finally arrive to their destination, parking in the first open spot he sees. steps out of the car after tugging out his keys from the car, jogging on over to amanda's side to open the door for her.

inclines his head, gesturing for her to exit. ]

M'lady.

[ steps out of the car & curtsies. ]

Thank you, sir.

[ laughs, putting an arm around her after shutting the door. ]

You're so cute. I'm glad you're my muse.

[ blinks, having never really understood the full extent of that 'muse' comment. ]

Thanks. [ probably? ]

[ rests the arm loosely around her shoulders, beginning their walk. ]

What flavor are you thinking about getting? I want something new, I think.

I'm gonna go with something classic. [ like mango.

... is that too boring? ]

[ lets out a considering hum, thinking. ]

So if you get mango... should I get rainbow sherbet?

Sounds good to me.

[ you can't really go wrong with rainbow sherbet. ]

[ lets his arm fall from her shoulders, opening the door for her. ]

Then I guess we've decided already.

Do you wanna order? [ or should she? --wait she should, she wants to use her debit card!

shuffles on over to the counter with that thought in mind, nodding. points to the mango & rainbow sherbet, each in a waffle cone. pauses briefly to look at lyssa. is waffle cone okay? ]

[ and he lets her do her thing, hands slipping into his pockets as he waits it out. turns his attention back to her when she gives him that look, nodding in approval to her silent question (& is equally quiet, knowing she'll pick it up just as well as he did with her). ]

[ pays for their treats & hands the cone with the rainbow sherbet to lyssa.

'enjoy!' she's thinking while taking a bite of her ice cream. nods in approval. ]

It's good.

Thank you! [ takes it, licking off a big glob to taste test the sherbet. ] It has successfully met my approval as well.
