[ of course, as it turns out, the one thing that she's forgotten to mention to lyssa was the fact that she didn't really have a convenient method of transportation. all she'd asked for the location & time, thinking that would have been enough. of course it hadn't been.
... oh well.
hooking her small messenger bag-slash-purse on her shoulder, she bids her dad goodbye after reassuring him that she'll be back by ten (yes, yes, don't worry, just the mall--). & promptly feels glad that she left two hours before the time she's supposed to meet lyssa 'cause she just missed the bus & the next one won't be arriving for another half-hour. she settles down, pews & waits. long story short (after she subtracts the bus ride & all the weird things her hair is doing in the humidity), she manages to get to the mall in once piece: none of her organs are missing, her dress isn't ripped up, & no one had shoved her head down a toilet. day's pretty good so far (where's wood to knock on when she needed some?). 'cept the fact that she's probably a few minutes late, but--
... oh well.
she'll apologize to lyssa as soon as she can find him. ]

It's not your fault.

You wanna go home?
no subject
she did want to go home, but did lyssa? it's his prom too; not fair to ruin it just because there were people in the school that would gladly see her suffer. still-- ]
I can't dance with-- my mom's-- [ hic. ] like this.

I know. [ pulls away slowly, quirking a small, encouraging smile. ] Let's get you back home. Okay?

I can. . . get a taxi. [ leans away to dig around for her phone in her bag (which had miraculously survived the ambush). shows it to lyssa as if to prove that yes, she did manage to save her phone. ]

I don't want to be here without you. Come on, I'll take you back in my car.
no subject
I'm sorry. . .
no subject
Don't be. It's okay.
no subject
It's your prom too.
no subject
But I don't care about prom.
no subject
. . . You don't?
no subject
Not if you're not there. [ squeezes her gently again. ] I just like spending time with you.
no subject
. . . Me too.

Then I hope that I get into both schools I applied for. That way I can go to yours without any regrets.
no subject
But. . . you wanted to go overseas? [ when lyssa got in to a foreign college, he was going to go to that, right? ]
no subject
I'd be too far away from you. That would suck.

We could make up for it with care packages.

It's okay, I don't need London. I'm happiest when I'm with you or my family.
no subject
Okay. [ if lyssa's sure, then she's not going to question it any more than that. she'll pray that she also gets into her mom's school too, if only for this. ]

after he gets amanda into the car he's heading to his side, though before he gets there he takes out his phone to check it. frowns a bit (in confusion?) when he notices that he didn't get a returning text, though ends up just shrugging and pocketing the phone again. (he's probably working on a project or sleeping. i'll call tomorrow.)
hops in the car and situates himself before taking off, giving amanda another one of his smiles as they head on back to her place. ]

Do you think I can fix this? [ probably not as good as it once was, but still good enough to be worn? ]
no subject
It's salvageable. [ continues their journey when the light turns green. ] But it'll take some time. Want me to give it a go with you?
no subject
kwehssighs softly & gathers the strips close to her chest again. ]Yeah. Okay. [ with lyssa's help, it'll be okay. she can fix this... & if everything fails, she can always go & find a professional service with old dresses or something. she works now, so she can save up for it. ]
