[ as the limousine steadily makes its way towards the masquerade brianna primps and preens. she isn't too worried about her appearance, already knowing that her gown, hair, and overall appearance is perfect, simply doing said fidgeting in order to keep herself busy. ]

[ snaps the compact shut and puts it back into her clutch purse, setting it aside before sparing a glance over to her date for the night. the look on her face is that of anticipation, yet there's some sort of amusement playing across her features as well. ]

[ hasn't even been there for five minutes and he's already flinching at the people who barely brush or bump up against him. says several "i'm sorry!"s even if he's not exactly at fault, quietly making his way on over to a corner to keep himself from possibly causing a scene. ]

[ has managed to draw a crowd himself despite his poor location; clips of the dull conversation fall deaf on his ears when he spots a sight of familiar blond hair in the crowd. makes him frown for the briefest of moments before it fades back into neutral. straightens away from the wall he has been leaning on, excuses himself from his admirers (kisses the hand of one of the clingier women with a promise of a dance later on to have her relinquish her hold) & navigates through the bodies carefully.

feet quicken when his target trips again, stretching out a hand for the boy to grab onto for support. ]

[ and grab onto it he does as it's the first thing he reaches out for, sort of stumbling a bit before standing up straight again.

looks up at the stranger and blinks a few times. can't really see him without his glasses on but he squints anyway. realizes at the last moment that he's still holding onto his hand, letting out a small "ah!" before pulling away. ]

I'm sorry! T-thank you very m-much.

You're very welcome.

[ withdraws his hand slowly, tilts his head as if in consideration. smile never leaves, doesn't change. ]

What would be your destination?

... um.

[ pauses, looking elsewhere in thought. rolls his eyes upward, then back down again, fidgeting slightly. ]

A um. A c-corner... I think.

[ an eyebrow goes up in (maybe) amusement. ]

Ah? You are unsure?

[ lets his gaze rest on albert, eyes closing to pull off his mask. fumbles for his glasses, slowly putting them on. adjusts them on his face, peering up at the other shyly. ]

Y-yes... I'm sorry.

[ chuckles, smile still in place even as his eyes are now appraising behind his mask. ]

Then perhaps you'd join me for a drink? A corner can easily be provided afterward.

[ gives a few blinks of surprise. ]

Oh, um. I-if that's what you'd like.

[ pauses, thinking about it. is trying to remember what anna talked about earlier. something about "please" and "thank you" to strangers but sort of doesn't know how to go about it, so his statement is unsure, as if he's questioning himself in the process. ]

... thank you?

You're very welcome.

[ nods once & waves his hand toward the drinks table before beginning to lead them there. ]

[ follows obediently, managing to not trip or run into anyone in the process. looks over his shoulder once into the crowd of people, though he's not quite sure as to why. ]

[ seems to part the crowd as he walks through them, at ease & even comfortable under all the scrutiny & apt attention. reaches for the wine once they arrive at the table & steps aside. ]

[ continues to follow and stops the moment they arrive, sort of just standing there awkwardly as he plays a little bit with the mask between his hands. isn't sure what to do or say so he just looks up at him curiously. ]

[ takes a sip of the wine, tilts his head a tad; is then struck by an impulse that he decides to humour. ] Excuse me.

[ extends his free hand to brush his fingers lightly underneath the curls. raises an eyebrow, realizing that they were natural. ]

[ is surprisingly not fazed by the touch, barely flinching with the contact. blinks in curiosity, tilting his own head slightly, a silent question without realizing that he's asking anything in the first place. ]

Hmm. [ says this with emphasis in that something strikes him as wrong, even as he lets go & gives an (semi-)apologetic incline of the head. ]

[ reaches a hand up to rake his fingers through the section of hair albert touched, as if trying to find out if there's something wrong with it. looks like he's thinking about something, and then: ]

U-um. [ lets his hands fall. ] Are you e-enjoying yourself so far?

I believe it is a little early to tell.

O-oh...

[ looks down at the ground again, fiddling with his fingers. thinks more about what anna told him, though he's taking quite a while, face changing into what seems to be something of an uncomfortable look. ]

[ leans a hand on the drinks table casually, watching the flickering expressions. ]

My answer bothers you?

N-no! I'm sorry, I--

[ stops, cheeks reddening slightly. speaks a bit quieter. ]

I'm... n-not very good at t-talking to people...

[ exhales a short, amused breath. ]

That, I have already noticed.
