[ the week had dragged on longer than it should have for brianna, the constant pouring of rain making her more sleepy and tired than usual. most of the hours at home were spent curling up in some unknown part of the mansion to take a long nap, though at the moment she had others plans:

she is currently sitting next to a window with her arms wrapped around her legs, dazing while watching the rain. is not thinking about anything in particular, just simply observing the drops as they stick to the glass, almost as if she's entranced by the motion. does not move, does not speak; it's as if she's a statue. ]

[ shifts a bit so that he's more comfortable in their mutual hold, resting his own head on her shoulder. doesn't respond -- doesn't feel like he needs to -- simply holding on & closing his eyes as well. ]

[ relaxes fully, enjoying the sound of his steady breathing and the tip-tapping of the rain on the window. after they are like that for a while she has an urge to speak again, unsure of why she needs to voice it but she speaks anyway, lowly & softly, as if she's about to drift off into slumber. ]

I like this... but I am not sure why.

[ nods a little bit into his shoulder, holding on a bit tighter. ]

[ lips twitch up slightly, secretly pleased by his answer. does not say anything to that, however, knowing that keeping her hold on him is good enough for now. ]

[ the silence is interrupted again as she switches topics once more, though this time she speaks softly, quietly, as if it were a secret she is about to reveal... or perhaps a promise. ]

I would do anything for you.

[ goes still in surprise, turning his face as to tuck his chin against her shoulder. whispers as quietly as possible as not to be overheard by anything but themselves. ]

... anything?

[ ponders this in silence, his thoughts too fast to catch & voice. ends up nodding instead (though a little awkwardly, considering his posture) & mumbles. ]

Then... don't leave me alone.

[ does not have to hesitate in her answer, the brief pause only done so that she could shift her face slightly into his hair. ]

[ a pause & then he leans back, putting a small distance between them so that he can raise a hand with only the pinky finger extended. ]

[ blinks in surprise at the gesture, almost unsure of why he's doing it in the first place. slowly, carefully raises her own hand to mirror what he is doing, giving it some thought (confused on what she is supposed to do next) before sliding her pinky around his, looking up at him with an expression that asks if she's doing it right. ]

[ face splits into a bright smile in answer; curls his own pinky & bobs their hands up & down three times. ]

[ shifts her eyes down to their hands at the movement, staring before speaking a little slowly, carefully. ]

[ nods again, satisfied. pulls his hand away gently, going back to his mug of hot chocolate, happily taking a sip despite the fact that it has long since cooled. ]

[ pulls her own hand a little bit closer to herself when she's released, still fixated on the pinky. wiggles it a little bit lazily, head tilted to the side. ]

[ opens the book again, face once again pulled into a displeased expression as he drags his eyes over the words. looks more relaxed than before, however, as he manages to stay with it, only pausing once in a while to either sip at his drink or glance quickly at brianna. ]

[ settles in after she's had her moment, head once again turned to look out the window. does not glance at albert in return, allowing her thoughts to drift off into nothingness. ]

[ eventually settles into the comfort of reading, making it past a good chunk of pages until his eyes start to droop in boredom. shakes his head then, turning his body a little so that he can press his ear against the window to listen to the thump thump of the rain. ]

[ can feel said boredom without having to look at him, making her come out from her haze & back into a state of awareness. debates on disturbing him or leaving him be. finally decides, turning once again towards him, her hands resting neatly on her thighs. ]

[ tries not to be too surprised at the interruption, merely gnawing on his lower hip as he half-closes the book to glance at the cover. ]
