[ pulls onto the street across from anthony's apartment complex to park his car, turning the vehicle off before leaning back into the seat in silence. a day when they're both free was rare to come by nowadays, thus the sudden decision to grab the boy when he was given the a-okay by anthony himself. only this time he was going to him instead of the other way around, a good way to practice on getting back into something more comfortable with the friend(s) he had not been able to spend time with as often as he would have liked. still, it was a good start, and that's really all that mattered to him.

drums his fingers against the steering wheel in thought, shaking his head before getting out of the car, pocketing his keys after he's locked up. doesn't take any time in doing the typical routine (that he had not been able to do in quite some time)-- walks in, waits for the elevator, steps inside to push the button for the correct floor number, then strolls on out when the ding signals his arrival. his feet carry him at a leisurely pace towards the apartment, arriving in no time at all; after he knocks he shoves his hands into his pockets, taking a look around the hallway as if this were his first time visiting. a moment's thought makes him grin to himself a little (the things that happened last time they were alone together, still going over that day with some fondness attached despite the bad moments), schooling the smile to instead train his eyes on the door to wait for his friend to appear. ]

[ rolls his eyes a little bit, blind to the look the cashier gives them when he plops the giant bird in front of them. ]

Don't pick something just 'cause it'll be cheap, chocobo.

[ places the cat on top of the bird, also ignoring the look even as he starts pulling out his wallet. ]

. . . Sorry. Mall food rocks. Taco Bell whoo. [ makes little cheering motions with one fist. ]

[ pulls out his own wallet, peeking quickly at the price for the cat plush when the cashier rings it up. takes out the right amount, reaching his hand out for anthony's money whenever he's ready. ]

You get Taco Bell. I'll get Chinese food.

[ stares at his wallet, then droops a bit. pulls out his credit card. ]

I don't have cash.

[ blinks a bit, looking surprised. ]

That's rare.

[ but ends up shaking his head at the credit card (& the thoughts that pop up), pulling out some more money to hand it on over to the woman behind the counter. ]

[ puts the card back into his wallet without complaint, though he peers at the transaction a little apologetically. ]

I'll pay you back tomorrow.

[ glances at the amused look the woman gives them, grinning a bit to himself. scoots a little closer to anthony, leaning down to say lowly, yet loud enough for anyone else to hear: ]

You can pay me back later tonight instead. In bed.

[ jerks away as if burned with an undignified squawk, shoving at tony a bit. ] In bed?! WHY! Nothing's h-ha-happen-- N-Not that way!

[ looks hurt at the shove, keeping up with this game of his. ]

Huh? But you didn't complain last night...

[ wheezes a bit, his embarrassment tripled in light of them being in public. glances quickly at the cashier, face burning. ]

'Cause I was alone last night!

[ tilts his head towards the cashier when she slowly hands him his change, sighing a little. ]

He's so shy. [ takes the bag with the cat plush in it before hauling up the bird. steps away from the counter after he nods to the woman. ] Au revoir, ma cherie.

[ smooshes his face against the bird when it comes up to face-level to hide the lingering blush, making a small 'mrrmph' noise. ]

. . . Chinese food?

[ laughs at him once they step outside, bending down a little to nuzzle his nose into anthony's hair. ]

Chinese food it is, then!

[ waits til tony's had his fill before moving his head away, sucking in some breaths. ]

For you. I'm getting KFC.

. . . [ takes him a moment, but eventually seems to catch on to the joke. scrunches his nose. ]

But they're selling Toonies.
