[ he's not sure how, but he's absolutely certain that it's one of those mornings where waking up would be a Bad Idea. even when he's only half-awake, he can feel the dull throb in his head, signaling the presence of a progressively worsening migraine. presses a hand to his forehead gingerly as he peeks open one eye. shuts it immediately when the light amplifies the headache even further. somehow manages to roll over onto his side with a soft groan, expression twisting into one of pain as he patterns out his breathing.

several minutes later, reattempts at opening his eyes. is successful this time, leaving him to blink owlishly at the blurry image of the (foreign-but-not) room laid out before him. jerks bodily when he realizes that this is not his room, but tony's. doesn't quite get to the point of throwing himself off the bed, however, hindered quite successfully by the pounding headache. feels slightly better upon realizing that tony's strangely absent, filling him with a sense of hope that he can get away unscathed. as such, he stubbornly pushes down the memories as he wraps his arms around his head, concentrating on breathing & recovering so that he can escape as soon as possible. ]

[ nods. ]

[ nods enthusiastically, tugging on his shirt a little. ]

「 Onii-chan makes the best fried rice. 」

[ goes a little red at the compliment. puts a hand in hiro's hair to give it a gentle ruffle. ]

Okay. I'll make fried rice.

[ looks extremely pleased with this, standing still to bask in the ruffling. ]

[ & then his attention is pulled away when he notices something (someone) standing in the background. peers around anthony, almost a little cautiously. ]

「 Usagi. 」

[ blinks at the word, looking confused, but finally gets to his feet to step away from standing in-between hiro & oliver. ]

Sorry, boss. This is Hiro, my l-little brother. And uh. . . this is my boss, Hiro.

[ lifts a hand to wave at hiro, smiling and flushing shyly. ]

[ stares up at oliver blankly for a moment. turns back to anthony when a very important question springs to mind: ]

「 Your boss is a kid? 」

[ stares down at the words. looks up at oliver. then seems to go into some sort of medium-length inner monologue before snapping out of it with his answer. ]

He ages really, really well.

[ looks like he's considering his answer, only nodding in somewhat understanding before taking the necessary steps to come face-to-face with oliver. holds out his hand after typing: ]

「 Nice to meet you. 」

[ doesn't seem too confused at the means of contact, just keeping a pleased smile on his face as he takes that hand to shake it. ]

I-It's very nice to meet you too! Your brother has told me a lot about you.

[ looks at oliver some more. back at anthony. one more look at oliver before he scurries back to the other boy, holding one of his hands before peering at oliver some more in silence. ]

[ looks a bit startled at the retreat. places a hand on top of hiro's head in what he hopes to be a comforting manner. then glances up at oliver in apology. ]

Sorry, can he stay until my dad comes to pick him up? He's. . . [ pauses, then finishes lamely: ] Really quiet.

[ nods his head once. ]

Of course he can. Do you want him to stay down here with us? He could always go upstairs, too.

Depends on him. [ looks down at hiro. ] What do you want to do?

「 Stay down here. 」 [ pauses. ] 「 Please. 」

[ ruffles his hair fondly. ]

Okay. You can help me.

「 I'll be a big help. 」

[ looks around, trying to find something he can do. ends up picking up a fallen flower he spots, holding it up to anthony. ]

[ stares for a moment, then accepts the flower with one hand while the other gives another few pets to hiro's hair. ]

Thanks, little brother.

[ nods furiously, giving his usual enthusiastic tug to anthony's shirt in reply. ]

「 What else can I do? 」

[ one more pat to the head, then he points over to his usual work station. ]

You can help me water the flowers, if you want.

[ bounces in place a little, nodding a few more times before he scurries off in that direction. ]

[ shakes his head to clear it, then shuffles on after him. places the flower hiro had given him on a shelf for safe-keeping & grabs the watering can again to offer down to the younger boy. gestures to the potted plants around them. ]

Gently. Not too much water on one plant at once.

[ takes the watering can gingerly, adjusting it a little to accommodate his hands. lifts it to begin watering one of the pots, stopping it every other second to make sure he doesn't over-water it. pauses... then nods and scoots to the next one. ]
