[ after albert and brianna declared their plans to go out on a date for the rest of the evening, she took it upon herself to personally watch lyssa until they returned home, despite her former plans with her boyfriend. it's with that change (and realization of what she did at the very last moment) that she calls up caleb to tell him the news, sounding disappointed until she ~~gleefully~~ casually suggested that he come over to help. after some convincing that yes, albert won't be here and yes, she'll wait for him by the door, is done and over with, she happily skips down the stairs after telling lyssa's personal ~~ninja~~ butler that she'll be back shortly.

plops down on the second to last step of the stairs while happily swaying and humming to herself, her eyes planted on the doorway to wait for caleb to enter. ]

< That's true, but you can't always please everyone. > [ gently tugs his head down, kissing his jawline once. ] < SAVE is a huge company. Aaron and Haru have worked as a two-man team before, long before you or I joined them. >

. . . !! [ looks a bit distressed. ]

< I- I know what I want! I want to be more than an extra and be more useful!! >

[ ... ]

< That's not what I meant... >

[ slowly shifts so she's facing caleb fully, touching his cheeks with her fingertips. ]

< I just meant that you wouldn't have to worry even if we decided to leave. You're valuable and more useful than you give yourself credit for, but... like you said before, it's work. They'll be able to function whether we're there or not. >

[ doesn't look entirely comfortable with the idea, but nods anyway. ]

< Okay. If Nathan-ee-ah says so. I will think about it. . . >

[ kisses the side of his mouth. ]

< It won't be for a while, so take your time. Right now, everything is okay. > [ shifts, pressing her forehead into the crook of his neck. ] < I like this. >

[ closes his eyes & lets out a content sigh, nuzzling the top of her head again. then gives her head a kiss, murmuring against her scalp: ]

< Me too. I think this is one of my favourite things to do! >

[ snickers, finding that confession to be cute. & just for fun: ]

< Oh yeah? And what are your other favorite things to do? >

< Being helpful! SAVE stuff. . . and then I like to learn, read, and listen to classical music. >

< Did you learn most of what you know from Hilda? >

Ja! < But my old team also helped a lot. >

< That's really cool... > [ gets a little more comfortable in his hold. ] < I always wondered how other teams operated. I only had mine and sometimes Jessie's team to go off of, but I guess it's different everywhere. >

[ props his chin against her, blinking a bit to clear his vision (what he has of it). ]

< Yes, I think so too. But a team is a family, so I think it's natural! Every family is different. Different mothers and fathers and siblings. . . >

[ blinks as well, tilting her head slightly when she thinks she feels caleb's body resting on her a little bit more than usual. and thus: ]

< I know. Anyway, you sound really tired... do you want to head to bed? >

[ noses at some of the strands of her hair that's sticking up in front of his face. ]

< Is Nathan-ee-ah tired too? >

[ lifts one of his hands up to kiss the back of it. ]

< A little bit, yes. >

[ nudges her head up a bit so that he can kiss her forehead. ]

< I can wait until you're more tired. I don't mind waiting because I can talk to Nathan-ee-ah. >

[ nuzzles the side of his face. ]

< We can talk in bed, too, you know. >

[ seems to think about the logic in this statement, then slowly peels himself away to sit up. ]

< That's a very good point! Can we do that? >

< Of course we can! > [ slips to the edge of the couch, reaching down to pick up her glass of milk. ] < Do you want to change while I finish this? >

[ gets to his feet & stretches a bit. ]

Ja! < But please take your time! Milk is delicious, so it should be enjoyed! > [ & then he's off, walking toward his room to change into more comfortable sleep wear. ]

[ shakes her head and chuckles at his back, tipping the glass to take a long gulp of it. taps her fingers on the cup as she stares down at it, almost in thought... then pouts, sipping at it some more before switching back to english so she can properly voice the one thought on her mind at the moment: ]

You'd better not be living a lie, milk. I know where you live.

[ siiiip. ]

[ while that's going on in the living room, he's throwing on his comfortable shirt & pants. the only thing that takes some amount of time is the folding of his other clothes. after putting those away in his closet, he glances around to make sure there isn't any more offensive messes lying around in his room before padding back out to the living room. ]

< Ta-da! I'm done too! >

[ drinks down the last of her milk the moment he comes into view, raising her empty glass up high. ]

< Victory is ours! >

[ throws up both his arms in the air. ]

< Yes!! We both did good! >
