[ the week had dragged on longer than it should have for brianna, the constant pouring of rain making her more sleepy and tired than usual. most of the hours at home were spent curling up in some unknown part of the mansion to take a long nap, though at the moment she had others plans:

she is currently sitting next to a window with her arms wrapped around her legs, dazing while watching the rain. is not thinking about anything in particular, just simply observing the drops as they stick to the glass, almost as if she's entranced by the motion. does not move, does not speak; it's as if she's a statue. ]

Because... I'm looking because I want to see them? If I'm not looking, then... [ trails off, nose crinkling a bit as he had just succeeded in confusing himself. ]

[ blinks a few times as she stares at him, as if expecting him to come around full-circle to an answer. turns her head to the window again when he does not say anything more. ]

You have to let them come to you.

[ emits a small "hmm" & closes his eyes, trying to keep his breathing even. there is another long moment -- long, at least to him -- before he finally speaks. ]

Can you... sing? Please?

[ does not hesitate to speak when her eyes move towards him. ]

Of course. [ shifts so she's seated on her legs & knees, facing him. ] What would you like me to sing, Albert?

[ doesn't look up at her, face going a little warm as he considers the question. ]

Um... anything? Anything nice.

[ nods and closes her eyes, going through her memories of song as if she could visually pluck a CD from a shelf & go from there. it takes her some time to finally choose, inhaling deeply, exhaling silently.

& then she sings (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SPnRPJ7mHMI). ]

[ relaxes under the weight of her voice, lips curling just slightly into a pleased smile as he listens to the combined music of her song & the rhythm of the rain, body slowly relaxing. quietly hums along, not loud enough to disturb her, just enough so that it rings in his own ears as he follows the soft beat. ]

[ when she finishes the melody her eyes do not open, basking in the quiet hum of silence that surrounds them. without looking she reaches out her hand to one of his own, holding onto it lightly after a brief & gentle squeeze. ]

[ notices that the song is only by the squeeze at his hand; jerks out of his reverie to smile more widely. ]

That was really good.

[ nods and straightens, as if the approval dismissed her. ]

Thank you, Albert. I am glad you enjoyed it.

[ uncurls from his current position. ]

Where are you going?

[ stands and blinks down at him. ]

I'm thirsty. [ pauses. ] I will bring you something as well.

... okay. Apple juice?

[ seems to think about that for a moment, nodding soon after. without another word she walks off, taking one glance over her shoulder before disappearing around the corner. ]

[ sits there for a moment, attempting to remain still while waiting for her. ends up giving up, however, scrambling onto his feet. moves himself onto the windowsill, tucking his body up against the cold glass as he opens the book on his lap to read. only one half of his attention is focused on the words, however, as the other half wanders in hopes of picking up any noise of her return. ]

[ returns ten minutes later with not two, but three cups precariously balanced in her hands. seems to be half concentrating on that and her steps as she approaches albert again, seating herself across from him.

places the two mugs and glass aside. fans off her hands absently before pushing one mug with hot chocolate in it and the glass of apple juice towards albert, sitting up straight again to see if her double decision meets his approval. ]

[ looks at his share in some surprise before he realizes her meaning. smiles a small, pleased smile, hands going for the hot chocolate first. takes a careful sip of it & nods. ]

... thank you.

[ there's a momentary flicker of happiness on her face before going back to baseline again, returning his nod with one of her own. ]

You're welcome.

[ nurses the cup as he turns his head to the outside, bumping his head lightly against the window. ]

I wonder when it'll stop.

[ places her hands around her own mug, not bothering to pick it up just yet. ]

Do you not like the rain?

Well... [ trails off & then turns his head to look at her. ]

I think... I just like the sun more.

[ leans back to rest against the crook of the window and the wall. ]

Because it's brighter?

[ shakes his head. ]

It's yellow. And warmer.

[ looks down at her lap in thought, concentrating on his answers. it takes her a while before she speaks, sounding a little bit forlorn. ]

... I do not understand.

[ looks up again. ]

But I do hope the rain stops for you.
