[ exactly three and a half months later alyssa returned from her trip with her parents, feeling refreshed and rather happy in the face of what she considered a new beginning. the change of scenery was needed, as well as the lost (& hopefully only brief) contact between friends gave her more of a reason to keep going on strong; to mend things, to make things right again.

it is now that she returns to the campus, having decided that it was best to move back in with her parents for the time being. thinks she merely missed home too much to properly focus on things that needed to be focused on, knowing that the change was necessary and very much so welcomed (from her dad especially). at the moment she resides under one of the trees a bit further out from the building where her first class was held in, contently reading a book to pass the hours until her next class started. flips through it leisurely, eyes trained to focus on that and nothing more. tucks a strand of now-short hair behind an ear, feeling calm and at peace with the world as a whole. ]

[ laughs happily, standing up before placing her other hand around their already connected ones. gives a tug. ]

Come on! [ tugs again. ] Let's do it~!

[ pushes himself onto his feet. ]

Mister Riku would ground us if he knew.

Good thing mister Riku won't ever know.

I'm telling.

[ gasps. then lifts a hand, smacking his shoulder. ]

Don't you dare!

[ edges away & in a monotone sing-song: ]

Lyssa's gonna be in trouble~

[ puffs out her chest before raising her voice slightly, calling out like one would if they're in trouble. ]

Help, help! He's touching me in my no-no spots-!

. . . !!

[ yanks his hand away to take a few steps backward, almost tripping on his bag in the process. ]

[ just points a finger at him and laughs while holding her stomach with her other hand. ]

[ the familiar sound of her laughter is enough to make him blink & stare. but that cuts his attempt at reclaiming his balance cut mid-way, making him stumble again. ]

Geh--! [ feels himself fall then, flailing a little as he falls to his rear with a grunt. ]

[ sits up gingerly afterward, rubbing at the back of his head with a hand as he looks up at her pathetically. ]

. . . I'm hurting.

Aw, my poor baby~

[ walks over to him and swoops down, a hand on his shoulder. leans in to kiss the spot on his head, stroking his hair once she pulls away. ]

Better?

[ feels himself lean into her hand instinctively. ]

Just a bit.

[ keeps on stroking when she feels him leaning against it, beaming a bit. gets into a more comfortable position next to him, continuing her ministrations. peers at him. ]

Only a bit~?

[ closes his eyes, allowing himself to relax more fully than he had in the past few months. ]

. . . Getting there.

[ closes her own eyes, tugging him to rest against her so that she could wrap her other arm around him into a half-hug. ]

I'll do my best, then.

[ wraps an arm around her in return, eyes slipping half-closed in exhaustion. ]

You always do.

[ keeps up the stroking, giving him a soft humming noise in reply. when the bell rings overhead she does not move, instead murmuring into him, a little amused: ]

Oops. Looks like my class just started.

[ doesn't seem to process it entirely. but when he does, he starts to pull away to give her a confused look. ]

That class won't come twice.

[ holds onto him a bit tighter, almost a little desperately despite her voice being even and expression rather calm yet sad. ]

Don't go...

[ stiffens at the combination of desperation & her spoken words. blinks at her for a moment, then forces himself to relax again, bringing his other arm up so that he can wrap both of them around her middle as he settles back against her. ]

. . . Where would I go?

[ can't think of anything profound after a moment of thought, almost as if her brain is preventing her from analyzing it any further. instead presses her nose into the closest spot on anthony. ]

Home. Away from me. I missed you, so... stay? Just for a little bit. Promise.

[ holds her closer, as close as possible. ]

You know I'd stay with you. As long as you need.

[ glances at him in the corner of an eye. ]

Really...?

[ doesn't have time to wait for confirmation to that question, too busy feeling her lips lift up into a wide smile. ]
