[ shivers a little underneath the covers when a chill disturbs his slumber, tucking himself a bit closer to caleb to leech off of his warmth. after a moment or two he cracks an eye open, shifting his gaze on over to the window when he feels like something is amiss. blinks once, twice, then slowly sits up in the bed as he gets a closer look at the outside world.

when he sees the snow that had piled up over the night and continued to litter the ground he can't help but get on his knees, smooshing his face and hands up against the glass as if he were an overexcited child. pries himself away after the tiniest of bounces on the bed to instead direct his attention to his sleeping companion. places a hand on his shoulder and lightly shakes. ]

Caleb. Caleb!

[ fumbles for her glass after she sets it down, copying aaron: ]

M-Merry Christmas.

[ is too busy noming on his food to realize what they're doing, only looking up when he hears silence. grunts out: ]

Happy festivities, yadda yadda. Now eat your food.

[ toasts alongside aaron & hana anyway before he does as told, digging into the food. one bite, two bites, three, four... and several more later, he leans away to breathe for a second. ]

Is so good! Toll!

[ stops eating to nod a little. ]

It is. It kinda reminds me of Hilda's food, actually.

[ can't help but interject, finding it too hard to resist: ]

The mother-in-law?

[ just hits aaron in the face with his spoon again, not bothering to say anything this time. ]

[ stares at aaron. then nathan. then aaron again. ]

Erm. Mother-in-law. . . ?

Yeah. She's your caretaker, right? So she'd be a mom. [ points his fork at nathan, lifting a hand to shield himself from the spoon attack. ] And he's the betrothed. So she'd be his mother-in-law.

[ tilts his head, not understanding the big word in the middle of that speech, but decides he gets most of it anyway. ]

Fake mom? Adopt mom?

[ munches on his food briefly while continuing, having to push his hand into nathan's face to keep him from launching at him. ]

Mom through marriage.

[ stares at for a moment. ]

Can get mom by marriage? New information! Nathan! [ turns to him, looking determined. ] Hilda is good mom!

[ is redder than a firetruck at his point, flailing a hand at caleb. ]

I KNOW, I KNOW!

[ looks between caleb and nathan, gasping a little. ]

You are getting married? C-Congratulations!

[ turns to her, jabbing a finger towards her plate. ]

NO! NO, WE ARE NOT! JUST EAT YOUR FOOD!

[ just sits there watching calmly, taking a sip of his drink in silence. ]

[ emits a quiet whine at the volume. ]

What is wrong? Hilda is good mom! Best mom!

[ buries his face into his hands. ]

You're missing the point...

[ noms a few more bites, considering this. ]

What is point?

[ side-glances aaron, expecting him to say something. when all he does is raise an eyebrow he shakes his head at caleb. ]

I-I'll explain it to you later, just... [ crams his face with some more food, deciding to not push it further for now. ]

[ gazes at him worriedly, then returns to his food as well in obedient silence. ]

[ pretends not to notice the look, continuing his eating in silence. when that silence is broken and more (pleasant) conversation takes over he relaxes, only having to hit aaron with his spoon two more times throughout their meal. when they're all finished he begins taking their plates after seeing hana take aaron's, standing up to follow her towards the kitchen. sets the plates down into the sink, peeking out the window curiously before calling out: ]

The snow's coming down hard. Should we stay inside for now?

[ beams out a 'danke!' when nathan takes his plate. shuffles up onto the couch now, basking in the full sensation. looks outside when nathan's words hit his ears, head tilting a bit as he observes the outside world. ]

Is good idea. Early snow is not fun for play.

[ glances between caleb and nathan, eyes landing on aaron before she shyly suggests: ]

Um. Should we do presents...?

[ sits up straight immediately. ]

Ja! I get present! [ & with that, he dashes off into the bedroom, rummaging around with a great deal of noise in search of the presents that he's hidden away. ]

[ watches after him silently. turns to nathan, trying to sound less monotone than he usually does when he says: ]

Mommy, did you and daddy get me a car?
