[ of course, as it turns out, the one thing that she's forgotten to mention to lyssa was the fact that she didn't really have a convenient method of transportation. all she'd asked for the location & time, thinking that would have been enough. of course it hadn't been.

... oh well.

hooking her small messenger bag-slash-purse on her shoulder, she bids her dad goodbye after reassuring him that she'll be back by ten (yes, yes, don't worry, just the mall--). & promptly feels glad that she left two hours before the time she's supposed to meet lyssa 'cause she just missed the bus & the next one won't be arriving for another half-hour. she settles down, pews & waits. long story short (after she subtracts the bus ride & all the weird things her hair is doing in the humidity), she manages to get to the mall in once piece: none of her organs are missing, her dress isn't ripped up, & no one had shoved her head down a toilet. day's pretty good so far (where's wood to knock on when she needed some?). 'cept the fact that she's probably a few minutes late, but--

... oh well.

she'll apologize to lyssa as soon as she can find him. ]

[ she doesn't do much in the ~~five minutes~~ the time that it takes lyssa to get here. actually, all she does is take out the things that need to melt overnight, such as that chunk of chicken that they bought on sale. feels a little bad eating it, but-- dad's been extra mopey today, so she could give him a bit of a treat tomorrow for lunch. that'd make him perk right up.

she's sitting on the couch in her living room, kind of lost in her own thoughts when she hears the knock. grabbing her bag, she quickly approaches the door & pulls on her shoes before opening it. ]

Hey. [ sorry about this afternoon ~~kweh~~. shows off her bag. ] I'm ready to go.

[ beams down at her when she finally pops up. ]

Great! Are we going to the usual place?

[ nods, stepping out of the apartment & closing the door behind her with a small click. ]

Yeah. It hasn't failed us yet.

[ reaches over to wrap his arm around her shoulders, as per usual. begins their trek towards the elevator. ]

So what was up with your dad? Trouble at work again?

[ tilts into him a little, but makes good work of the distance between here & the elevator anyway. ]

Something like that. Mostly just getting water gun'd to the face. [ among other juvenile bullying, but that's the main thing. ]

[ laughs weakly at that. ]

He certainly has a very... unique work partner.

[ that's a word for it. ]

He's a hurricane. [ & possibly an alien. ]

[ again, as if he hears here: ]

Maybe from Mars?

Too small. Maybe Jupiter. [ then all the moons put together can be one-tenth of his ego. ]

Or a planet we know absolutely nothing about!

As long as it's bigger than Earth.

[ presses the button to the elevator when they arrive. ]

We'll Google all the obscure planets later, then.

But even Google doesn't know every planet in the universe. [ probably. unless they were holding out on them. ]

Google knows everything. I even looked up the first lady once and there were pictures of her on Google images.

[ even the cat has stalkers? ]

Stalkers again?

I hope not... but who knows, maybe it's one of the maids this time.

[ it's surprising that that dad of lyssa's even allows such a thing... but maybe he's just used to being oogled at. ]

As long as they got her good side.

[ smiles down at her, leading them inside the elevator when it arrives. ]

My lady doesn't have a bad side.

[ ... okay. tries again: ] Her best side?

All of her sides are her best sides!

[ well. she tried. just mentally shrugs it off, reasoning it away that that cat was so round that it really did have just one side, which is the best side, simply on account of it only having one. circular logic.

when the elevator dings open again, she inches forward a little to tell lyssa that she's about to move & starts walking normally again. ]

She's a lucky cat. [ to be born so perfectly round. most other fat cats just have lumps, not round like a beach ball. ]

[ removes his arm from her shoulders, shoving his hands into his pocket as they go along. ]

Why don't you have any pets, anyway? I bet a nice bird would suit you just fine.

I have enough in the wild. [ the seagulls, in particular. they like squawking 'hi' to her. it's kind of scary sometimes. ]

[ thinks about it, eyes going to the sky once they're outside. ]

Ah, right, the seagulls and hoots. Forgot about them.

You shouldn't. They're also another force of nature.
