[ it felt like bad luck the moment his cellphone rang and woke him up after four hours of sleep. it felt like even worse luck when said person on the other line told nathan that he would be saying hello to their fifth and final member to the 'team'-- alone, which was apparently due to personal reasons from his other three co-workers. this did not deter nathan from furiously texting aaron in anger, only to get a short can't come as a reply. he didn't even bother texting hana, as she still had difficulties texting with an english-language phone, but he still called her and got her voicemail message, which only made him seethe even further.

the anger eventually subsided when coffee was deposited into his hands, drinking his life force happily (or as happy as nathan could get) while turning the corner from starbucks to sit on one of the many chairs littering the front of the shop. once he settled in and tossed his bag onto the table, nathan finally felt like all was right in the world, completely forgetting his original objective for the day. his coffee was his second love, after all, and it deserved his complete and undivided attention. ]

Okay to me.

[ weighs his pros and cons with this, wondering how much he's already said for the day. frowns at himself briefly, then lets it go, deciding that that's enough for today. ]

So. Is your place close by? Did you get someone to drive you here, or...?

I walk. Erm. Twenty minutes?

... twenty minutes? Really?

[ flips open his phone. ] You're getting a cab this time. [ murmurs to himself as he flips through his contacts. ] Or our driver...

[ is mostly responds to the distress-type tone that he hears, already speaking even before he manages to full process what nathan is offering. ]

Is not bad! Walk is easy, and easy to find things and people.

Huh? [ stops when he lands on his personal driver's number (one he has never called before), lifting his thumb away from the key. ] You don't mind walking?

Erm... [ pauses again, then shakes his head. ] Ja, is okay. Need to walk to find my house.

[ smiles a bit though, having finally understood nathan's intentions. ]

Danke.

[ keeps his gaze on caleb for the moment, quickly averting his eyes to his phone as he messes with it a bit, acting like he's half-busy. ]

Eh. No biggie.

Biggie...?

[ looks up at the clock when he hears the minute hand hit 12. ]

Is time okay for Nathan?

[ looks up from his phone to caleb. ]

Yeah. I've got nowhere to be. Why, do you have to go?

Nein. [ peers at hopefully. ]

I want to stay with Nathan. Bitte?

[ stares at him. stares at him some more. is trying to process this, but his brain is going a little slower than usual. ]

[ can't. seem to really form any words for a few moments, too busy looking at something other than caleb. stumbles over his words a few times, feeling odd again over caleb's honesty. ]

S-sure, if... you want to...

[ this may be a grin. ]

Ja. I ask, and say 'want'.

... I see what you did there. Good job.

[ returns back to normal, snatching one of the remaining drinks off of the table. ]

What do you want to do, then?

[ looks rather pleased at the praise, but stays silent about it in favour of thinking over the question. ]

Play?

"Play"?

[ contemplates on that, wondering if he actually wants to play or if he accidentally misused the word; has not played anything with another person in quite some time, thus it leaves him making a face, hitting a dead-end. ]

... there's a park around the corner if you want to go there?

[ sounds almost unsure of himself, giving a slightly sheepish shrug. ]

[ knowing what a 'park' is, purses his lips upon realizing that he had miscommunicated. shakes his head & decides to try again, unwilling to let this opportunity escape. ]

Das ist schwierig... Ahem. Entschuldigung. Erm... good place? Place I laugh and smile with Nathan.

[ makes a thoughtful noise at that, leaning back in his chair to think. has a tiny idea in the back of his head, but he decides to weigh the pros and cons (the dangers and possible risks) first, almost feeling bad that he might get caleb's hopes up, but... ]

[ scratches the back of his neck, feeling a bit uncomfortable since he realizes this would be the first time he's ever done this before; ]

I don't know of any places like that, but you could come to my house. [ pauses. glances sideways. ] I guess.
