[ when he's far enough away (enough that caleb could not see nor hear him any longer) he rolls his eyes up to the sky, heaving a long, drawn-out sigh. ]

This sucks.

[ & then he shoves his hands into his pockets, kicking a rock as he makes his way towards home. ]

[ had been watching them silently the whole time, casually munching on one of the snacks, as if she's watching a movie of some sort. eventually speaks up once nathan was out of sight: ]

< ... huh. He really seems to like you. >

[ doesn't answer until he properly sees nathan out of his range & then shakes his head a bit to re-focus on the world right before him. ]

< I like him too! He's really nice, right? Do you like him? >

[ looks like she's thinking about it, head tilted to the side. ]

< He's shy, but cute. I approve! >

[ gives him the thumbs-up. ]

[ brightens & returns the thumbs-up with little thought. ]

< I'm sure he'll like you too, Hilda! >

[ laughs at that, but does not elaborate, simply patting the empty spot next to her on the couch. ]

< So, tell me more about your new team! Tell me about your time here! I'm dying to know. >

[ bounds over immediately, sitting as close as possible without squishing her against the couch. ]

< Okay! Um. . . Nathan is the best machine-person on the team. He's always right, so I make sure I listen to him. I trust him a lot! He keeps me safe. >

< Mister Aaron is kind of like the leader in this team! He's not the complete leader, but he's still leader. He's really nice, though. He sometimes teaches me English, but Nathan doesn't like that a lot. >

< Miss Hana is really good at cooking, and she's a little quiet, but I like helping her in the kitchen. All I do is cut vegetables though. Nathan teaches her English too, but her English is much better than mine. I think she'd have to get five sticker books. >

[ pauses a bit to catch his breath. gathers the rest of his thoughts before he continues, voice going a little softer. ]

< Miss Hana has a really useful strength. She can find people. Anyone. >

[ listens intently, keeping her eyes focused on him the entire time. nods every once in a while, content in just listening.

when he finishes her expression doesn't change, simply wearing a small smile on her face as she allows some silence to fill the room. ]

< Is that so. >

[ leans back to rest on the couch, putting an arm around caleb's shoulders to pull him along with her. ]

< It sounds like they're very nice people. I'm glad. >

< Well, this is great! I was going to have to beat them up if not! Haha! >

[ goes along quite readily, nuzzling her shoulder a bit before squirming into a more comfortable position. ]

< I think Hilda can take them all on by herself. But I'm glad Hilda doesn't have to. >

[ distractedly reaches over with a foot to nudge their snacks into caleb's lap, too lazy and content to snatch them up properly with her hand. ]

< I'm just glad that they're good people. > [ idly strokes his hair with a hand. ] < You deserve it more than anyone I know. >

[ picks up the snack & opens the bag, offering it toward hilda first. ]

< No, Hilda does! Do you like your new home too? >

[ laughs fondly, reaching in to grab one of the packages and open it. ]

< Of course I do! I can live anywhere and be happy. >

[ takes one for himself now, biting into the treat when he pries it open from its wrapping. ]

< I'll come visit too! I miss home everyday. >

< Oh, that's a great idea! You should bring your friends along, too! >

< I will! They'll like home. It has nice food, people, and Hilda. >

< I'd hope so! You can all stay at my place, too! We'll show them around and everything. >

[ looks excited. ]

< Tour! I'm good at giving tours! >

[ leans over a bit to nuzzle the top of his head with her face. ]

< I know you are! I know! >

[ then pulls back, patting his head with a hand. ]

< But for now, how about you get us something to drink? This is a celebration, after all! >

[ nods & gets to his feet. ]

< Water? Juice? Beer? >
