[ pulls onto the street across from anthony's apartment complex to park his car, turning the vehicle off before leaning back into the seat in silence. a day when they're both free was rare to come by nowadays, thus the sudden decision to grab the boy when he was given the a-okay by anthony himself. only this time he was going to him instead of the other way around, a good way to practice on getting back into something more comfortable with the friend(s) he had not been able to spend time with as often as he would have liked. still, it was a good start, and that's really all that mattered to him.

drums his fingers against the steering wheel in thought, shaking his head before getting out of the car, pocketing his keys after he's locked up. doesn't take any time in doing the typical routine (that he had not been able to do in quite some time)-- walks in, waits for the elevator, steps inside to push the button for the correct floor number, then strolls on out when the ding signals his arrival. his feet carry him at a leisurely pace towards the apartment, arriving in no time at all; after he knocks he shoves his hands into his pockets, taking a look around the hallway as if this were his first time visiting. a moment's thought makes him grin to himself a little (the things that happened last time they were alone together, still going over that day with some fondness attached despite the bad moments), schooling the smile to instead train his eyes on the door to wait for his friend to appear. ]

[ nudges him in the direction of the toy store. ]

That can be arranged.

[ goes in that direction, keeping his eyes on anthony for now. ]

What kind of animal would she choose?

A bird, or a. . . [ winces briefly. ] A cat.

[ catches that wince, grinning. ]

A cat, huh.

[ nods, doing his best to bite down the shudder. ]

Y-Yeah. . .

[ pretends to not notice, looking elsewhere for the moment. ]

Then we'll get her the biggest cat they have.

[ twitches. ]

What's wrong with birds?

[ laughs at that, lifting his free hand to ruffle anthony's hair. ]

We can get her a cat and a bird.

[ accepts the ruffling even as his shoulders droop a bit when he can't think of a way to wiggle out of it. ]

Then shotgun picking the bird.

[ gives one more ruffle before he lets his arm drop to his side, nodding in reply. when they get to the toy store he looks around, spotting the plush section with ease. meanders on over, glancing at the choices while letting out a hmmm in thought. ]

[ follows along, peeking out at the plush section from behind tony. reaches out to poke & picks a few up before putting them back down. then wanders further down the isle where the larger plushes are, looking around for the bird plush of his choice. ]

[ takes a few steps to the left towards the more medium-sized plushes, his eyes automatically leading him towards one in specific. stares at the pink cat (http://i56.tinypic.com/2lxa3bm.jpg) for a while longer, smiling widely when he decides that it's perfect. picks it up and holds it against his chest, moving towards anthony. taps him on the shoulder, shoving the stuffed animal into his face. ]

Look! Isn't it perfect?

[ sputters a little when the cat-plush is brought close to his face, instinctively moving back a few steps. then glances at the cat's face & up at tony before eventually nodding to show agreement. doesn't reach out to pat the plush like he's done to many others, content in merely staring at it. ]

Yeah, it's cute. [ & pink. ] She'll like it.

[ turns the plush around to face him again, giving an enthusiastic nod. peers down at anthony curiously. ]

Did you find anything yet?

[ nods & moves out of the way to reveal a very big chicken (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v112/Airleas/s23-400x253.jpg). points. ]

That.

[ stares at it. stares at it some more. turns back to anthony, exclaiming happily: ]

It looks like you!

[ stares at tony for a moment, then poses. ]

I'm the better looking twin.

Y'sure are.

[ doesn't go any further with those words, too busy handing anthony the pink kitten plush so that he can go and grab the oversize chicken. ]

[ accepts the plush reluctantly, keeping his arms outstretched while holding onto it so that it's as far as possible from the rest of his body. peers up at tony. ]

. . . Done yet?

[ grunts a little, realizing the plush is heavier than he had originally thought. nonetheless he grins at anthony, managing a fast salute. ]

Yep! Wanna look around some more? I think I saw some of your robot-thingies in a corner over there.

. . . !! [ face takes on an anticipatory blush as he nods. reaches up to place the cat on the chicken plush & backs up a few quick steps excitedly. ]

Which aisle?

[ grins a little at the blush and enthusiasm, jerking his head to the side towards that general direction. ]

Seven.

Seven!

[ & with that repetition, he glances upward to check where they are at. then he's off, scurrying quickly toward the aisle that tony had pointed out. ]

[ takes a moment to watch him run off. shakes his head in amusement as he begins his own trek over there while balancing the gigantic ball of yellow fluff and the pink kitten, ignoring the looks he's getting from the people around him. ]

[ meanwhile, after some more scurrying, he's found the right aisle. eyes move from package to package, seemingly disinterested in the toys until he gets a certain (& rather small) section. doesn't seem discouraged by the size, however, busily picking up one of the boxes to inspect the words written on the back & the side. ]
