[ he's not sure how, but he's absolutely certain that it's one of those mornings where waking up would be a Bad Idea. even when he's only half-awake, he can feel the dull throb in his head, signaling the presence of a progressively worsening migraine. presses a hand to his forehead gingerly as he peeks open one eye. shuts it immediately when the light amplifies the headache even further. somehow manages to roll over onto his side with a soft groan, expression twisting into one of pain as he patterns out his breathing.

several minutes later, reattempts at opening his eyes. is successful this time, leaving him to blink owlishly at the blurry image of the (foreign-but-not) room laid out before him. jerks bodily when he realizes that this is not his room, but tony's. doesn't quite get to the point of throwing himself off the bed, however, hindered quite successfully by the pounding headache. feels slightly better upon realizing that tony's strangely absent, filling him with a sense of hope that he can get away unscathed. as such, he stubbornly pushes down the memories as he wraps his arms around his head, concentrating on breathing & recovering so that he can escape as soon as possible. ]

Oh... [ presses his nose into anthony's chest, thinking for a moment on that. ] It... it didn't go well...?

[ droops a bit, pushing his nose back into the hair. ]

That's what I don't know. He left.

[ looks back up at him. ]

Left? W-Where?

[ tightens his hold again. ]

. . . France. To where he feels safe.

[ takes that as a sign to put his head back in place. ]

He'll come back to you someday... right?

Not to me. [ lips twitch into a strained smile. ] But. . . but he said he'll come back. To here, at least.

[ feels conflicted at that first bit, unable to help himself when he says: ]

But... y-you have things to talk about. To figure out, right? So... so he'll come back. To you.

[ tightens his grip again for a moment, then releases him. leans away a bit to give oliver a small nod, agreeing -- at least -- with the first half. ]

[ gives him a tiny smile, letting it rise when a thought comes to him. sounds a little hopeful with his next words, maybe a little encouraging. ]

Um... when do your classes end? D-Do you want to work for me over the summer again? You can come over whenever your dad is gone, too.

[ pulls back a bit, looking a bit relieved at the subject change. smiles a bit at the offer & nods with more energy. ]

My classes end soon. And I like working here, so I'd like that. [ pause. ] Do you want me to come in full-time?

[ smile turns a little bit softer at that. ]

Yes, please. It would be wonderful if you could.

[ nods again & steps away completely, dusting off his apron a little self-consciously. ]

Okay. What time do you come in to open?

[ flushes a little, fiddling with his own apron. ]

Oh, um... i-it depends on if Simon is at home or not. I'll try to come up with a schedule...

[ shakes his head quickly. ]

No, it's okay. I can come in by nine at least. It's standard.

[ looks elsewhere in thought before drawing his attention back to anthony. ]

N-Nine... okay.

[ peers at him. ]

. . . If it's too early, I can come in at ten.

[ shifts a bit, eyes going to the ground in embarrassment. ]

I-- I just sleep a lot... sometimes...

But Simon always gets me up, so it shouldn't be a problem.
