[ shivers a little underneath the covers when a chill disturbs his slumber, tucking himself a bit closer to caleb to leech off of his warmth. after a moment or two he cracks an eye open, shifting his gaze on over to the window when he feels like something is amiss. blinks once, twice, then slowly sits up in the bed as he gets a closer look at the outside world.

when he sees the snow that had piled up over the night and continued to litter the ground he can't help but get on his knees, smooshing his face and hands up against the glass as if he were an overexcited child. pries himself away after the tiniest of bounces on the bed to instead direct his attention to his sleeping companion. places a hand on his shoulder and lightly shakes. ]

Caleb. Caleb!

[ beams. ]

Wow! Five years is good. Look comfortable, and work together very good. Only two in beginning? No Nathan?

[ shakes his head. ]

Just me, Hana and the First. Nathan joined after he was invited.

[ nods, holding the door of the elevator open with an arm when it arrives with a ding. ]

Good, good. [ slight pause. ] Herr Aaron and Nathan is friend?

[ side glances nathan when the question is asked, giving a shrug as they all pile in. ]

Maybe.

[ jabs the number for his floor & turns back to aaron. ]

Maybe?

[ nods once, repeating for emphasis: ]

Maybe.

Why is maybe? Is friend, or not friend?

[ offers another shrug. ]

He never took an interest in those kinds of things. Wasn't ever discussed. Not until you came along, anyway.

But is important!

Yeah, but you can't be friends if it's one-sided.

[ pauses for a moment, translating 'one-sided' with some effort. makes an 'o' with his lips soon afterward, busily thinking it over. then, as if hit by brilliance, he surges forward to grab one of nathan's hands & aaron's free hand to bump them together. ]

Can start now!

[ blinks briefly when he's jerked away from his conversation with hana, looking down at what his hand is touching. makes a face up at caleb. ]

What in the world are you doing?

Friend! Nathan and Herr Aaron be friend!

[ sighs and tries to tug his hand away. ]

Can't this wait or something? I'm kinda busy.

But. . . this is important too, Nathan.

...

[ when the ding of the elevator rings he can't be anymore thankful, quickly shuffling past caleb and aaron to begin their short trek to the apartment. ]

[ watches nathan go, turning back to caleb after a while before lifting a hand to pat his head. ]

You tried, brave soldier.

[ gives aaron a kicked look, but nods in thanks at the patting anyway. shuffles after nathan afterward, shoulders drooping a bit. ]

[ looks at them all curiously at the scene, her own shoulders drooping when she notices caleb's doing the same. trots after him quickly, peering at his face. ]

Caleb-san...?

[ perks up immediately when he hears hana's voice, shaking off the defeated feeling for now. ]

Guten Tag! I am okay.

[ looks concerned for a little while longer, attempting to find something else to talk about. ]

Oh, um... I made you kno-- [ makes a face, trying again at a painfully slow pace: ] K... nö... del?

[ perks up even further, somehow managing to understand the word even when dragged out. ]

Knödel? Really?!

[ nods, stopping next to the front door when they finally approach it. ]

But I am not sure if they will be good...

Frau Hana is very good at cook! I think it will be sick!

S-Sick...?
