[ he's not really surprised to come home to an empty house, even on a saturday. he doesn't even need to call riku to know where he is; instead, he rolls his eyes to the ceiling in a long-suffering manner as he moves over the kitchen table to set the costco-bought cookies for riku's monday class. then he goes about his usual rituals: checking the fridge, making a note on the portable white-board on what they need to go shopping for, pouring himself a bowl of cereal & peeking in the bathroom to check on the ducks.

he spends a good ten minutes petting them (quack, quack) before he remembers the cereal -- now soggy. but he eats it anyway, slipping on his reading glasses to flip through the latest science journal that sora had received a free subscription while tucked into the corner of the couch, waiting for riku to get home. ]

[ scoots towards him further, putting his briefcase down on the coffee table. ]

[ shuffles on over, sitting down next to him so he can lean down and plop his head on rob's shoulder. ]

[ reaches a hand into riku's hair to massage gently at the scalp, while the other gives comforting strokes to the back of one of riku's hands. ]

Ye of little faith.

[ finally sighs, smiling. relaxes into his hold, letting himself go slightly limp for the moment. ]

Does this mean your day fared better than mine, ye of too much faith?

[ stops the hand petting for a moment as he shrugs. ]

I guess. It was a typical Saturday. [ then, while continuing up the motions, he adds: ] I bought your cookies.

[ rests his head against riku's shoulder, turning his face so that it's faced away from the other. ]

[ slowly cracks a smile, lifting his free hand to ruffle rob's hair a little. ]

What's that? You can't stand anyone else's cooking except for mine? How sweet.
