[ isn't entirely there even when the plane comes to a complete stop; the noise ringing in his head is as painful as he remembers it being, making him sway a bit while pressing a hand to his forehead. the world before his eyes seems to double, triple, merge back into one, then double again, while the blueprint-world throbs in noisy emptiness. makes small whimpering noises when they're walking, barely hanging onto consciousness by focusing on that comforting, erratic heartbeat he knows is near.

gropes around for a smaller hand that he knows is around (but can't remember why it would be right this moment) while mumbling absentmindedly under his breath in german, as if he's welcoming himself back home. ]

[ shows him his phone briefly, once again shifting to properly type something back. ]

[ leans away so that he can blink down at him. ]

Important? SAVE?

[ shakes his head, deleting one draft to begin another. ]

[ gives another shake of his head, once again deleting what he wrote. ]

Just my stupid brother sending me a stupid message. Does this every year.

[ grins. ]

[ droops a little bit. ]

[ gives him a considering gaze. shrugs a bit, staring down at his phone indifferently. ]

It's not that I don't like him. I just don't care about birthdays.

[ blinks. ]

Birthday? Family birthday? Nathan birthday?

[ before pressing send he says a simple: ]

[ beep. ]

[ pauses. then: ]

EHHHH--?!

[ blinks and looks up at him. ]

Nathan birthday! Today?!

... yeah. So?

Nathan! Birthday, today?! But-- But--!

[ ... deteriorates into panicked german. ]

[ allows him to babble on for a while, only lifting a hand to put it over caleb's mouth when he's had his fill. ]

Down, boy. It's not a big deal.

[ keeps talking, though his words are a little muffled behind the hand. ]

Nein! Is important!

[ & thus he lets his hand drop, knowing his attempts are futile at this point. ]

Why?

[ dislodges his arm from around nathan to make a few excited flailing motions. ]

Because is birthday! Nathan is born today! Good day!

I was taken out of a tube and handed over to someone in the name of science. Yeah, really great day. [ makes a hand into a fist and lifts it up. ] Woohoo.

Nein, nein!

[ reaches over to hold that hand in both of his. ] Nathan is born today. After time, I meet Nathan. Today is a good day, because I meet Nathan because of today.

Oh... [ feels his face get a bit warm. averts his eyes. ] Y-yeah, guess that's... good...

[ doesn't advert his, leaning in closer for further emphasis. ]

Ja! Is important!

[ feels like he should have some instant reply to this, but ends up just giving a tiny embarrassed shrug. ]
