[ pulls onto the street across from anthony's apartment complex to park his car, turning the vehicle off before leaning back into the seat in silence. a day when they're both free was rare to come by nowadays, thus the sudden decision to grab the boy when he was given the a-okay by anthony himself. only this time he was going to him instead of the other way around, a good way to practice on getting back into something more comfortable with the friend(s) he had not been able to spend time with as often as he would have liked. still, it was a good start, and that's really all that mattered to him.

drums his fingers against the steering wheel in thought, shaking his head before getting out of the car, pocketing his keys after he's locked up. doesn't take any time in doing the typical routine (that he had not been able to do in quite some time)-- walks in, waits for the elevator, steps inside to push the button for the correct floor number, then strolls on out when the ding signals his arrival. his feet carry him at a leisurely pace towards the apartment, arriving in no time at all; after he knocks he shoves his hands into his pockets, taking a look around the hallway as if this were his first time visiting. a moment's thought makes him grin to himself a little (the things that happened last time they were alone together, still going over that day with some fondness attached despite the bad moments), schooling the smile to instead train his eyes on the door to wait for his friend to appear. ]

She'd probably punch me.

[ gives his side an awkward pat. ]

Be strong. You can take it.

[ briefly glances down at the bag anthony's holding. puts on a small smile. ]

Alright. But for now we should look for her stuff.

[ nudges him in a particular direction. ]

Godiva first.

Roger that!

[ reaches down for his friend's hand instead of keeping his arm around his shoulders, beginning their trek on over to the requested store. ]

[ squeezes that hand as he follows along, making sure that he's out of tony's sight (even from the side) when he feels his face heat up again as he follows along. ]

A box is usually good.

[ hums a little in reply, not looking back at anthony as he concentrates on thinking. ]

What else would she might want?

[ tilts his head in thought. ]

Blankets, pillows, stuffed animals. . . pokemon.

Toy store it is, then.

[ but not until they're done getting that chocolate, leading them into the godiva shop before letting go of anthony's hand so that he could do his thing. ]

[ wanders around the store, peeking at the selections. picks out a couple of boxes within a matter of minutes, being well-versed in this ritual. makes his way back around to tony, holding out three possibles. ]

Pick your final answer.

[ stares at them. looks back up at anthony. ]

I know nothin' about chocolate, kid.

[ nudges the boxes toward tony again. ]

C'mon, grandpa. Get with the times.

[ heaves a sigh, wordlessly pointing to the one that looks most flashy. ]

[ glances down at it, then shrugs. goes to return the other two boxes, coming back with only the single box in hand. ]

Truffles. Guess she could use the change.

If she hates them then don't blame me, 'kay?

[ shakes his head, unworried. ]

She won't. It's from us.

[ lifts a hand to pat anthony's head. ]

Then I trust your judgment.

[ lips twitch a bit at the words & gesture, but finds it necessary to add the following anyway. ]

. . . But it was still your final answer.

That's because I'm a genius.

[ wordlessly jabs him in the gut with a finger. ]

[ jumps a little at that. ]

H-Hey, play nice!

[ doesn't answer immediately, basking in amusement for a moment. reaches up to poke tony between the eyes. ]

I am.

[ grunts from the impact. ]

Doesn't seem like it.

[ turns his head away when he feels himself smile, only turning back around when his expression returns to normal. makes his way toward the cashier. ]

It's payback, my dear Bond.

[ rolls his eyes up to the ceiling, sighing quietly through his nose. doesn't reply as he crosses his arms over his chest, taking his time in following anthony to the cashier. ]
