[ exactly three and a half months later alyssa returned from her trip with her parents, feeling refreshed and rather happy in the face of what she considered a new beginning. the change of scenery was needed, as well as the lost (& hopefully only brief) contact between friends gave her more of a reason to keep going on strong; to mend things, to make things right again.

it is now that she returns to the campus, having decided that it was best to move back in with her parents for the time being. thinks she merely missed home too much to properly focus on things that needed to be focused on, knowing that the change was necessary and very much so welcomed (from her dad especially). at the moment she resides under one of the trees a bit further out from the building where her first class was held in, contently reading a book to pass the hours until her next class started. flips through it leisurely, eyes trained to focus on that and nothing more. tucks a strand of now-short hair behind an ear, feeling calm and at peace with the world as a whole. ]

[ sits back again, eyes going skyward. ]

I went to Italy! I've never been there before, it's so beautiful. Then we went to Paris at the end of my trip, and oh, Anthony. It was so wonderful. I wish you could've been there with me!

[ perks up again, letting out a surprised "ah!" sound when something hits her. ]

I got you a present! [ reaches into her bag, rummaging around... and then whines. ] Oh phooey, I don't think I have it on me...

[ can't help the small frown that comes to his face then, confusion & curiosity warring with panic. hides his face a little more behind the tree as she speaks, even if he is listening to ever word. ]

[ at the end of it, slides down to his rear. after changing his posture so that he can lean his back against the tree, he gives her a small smile with no small amount of effort. ]

It's such a beautiful day today. For some reason it feels like I haven't seen it in a long time. Like... I've been stuck in a dream, you know? Something foggy and dark.

[ wills himself not to flinch at the contact as he hesitantly leans his own head down, cheek just barely brushing down against the top of her head. ]

[ then cranes his face upward toward the sky, a million thoughts running through in mind. swallows thickly, but speaks with only the smallest waver in his tone, deciding not to question her just yet. ]

[ lips form into a pout again, turning her head on his shoulder to look up at him. ]

[ turns so that he's properly facing her. then reaches over to grasp gently at both her shoulders with his hands, pulling her against himself though he does not wrap his arms around her. closes his eyes as he hovers his chin over her shoulder while angling his head so that his hair covers most of his face. ]

[ blinks a few times at the sudden contact, but it's gone as soon as she feels her typical surge of happiness run through her body. wiggles out of his hold to face him, wrapping her arms around his middle to rub her face into his chest. ]

What'd you do in Italy?

[ tilts her head up a little to look at him. ]

I saw everything! Stayed at a hotel, had breakfast in bed with mommy and daddy. Took lots of photos, so I'll have to show you them sometime. Maybe later? If you don't mind driving to my house, of course.
