[ grins up at hilda & nods, slowly extracting himself from nathan when he feels his world slow down & re-center. leans his head closer to hilda's to give hers a fond bump. then takes a deep breath, dislodges himself from both nathan & hilda almost reluctantly to push himself out of the car.

jumps up & down a few times when he feels the solid ground under his feet not sway for the first time in many hours. then he tilts his head, taking the time to fully re-adjust himself, looking much healthier & comfortable. ]

< I know Hilda's house inside-out! Hilda doesn't change it too much, so it's easy to memorize. >

[ gives him a fond look, lifting her hand to pet him. ]

< What can I say, I'm a traditionalist at heart. >

[ looks over at nathan, who's still sitting in the car. ]

Do not be shy, Kurzer Junge. My home is your home, you are most welcome here.

[ blushes slightly at being called "shy" but can't seem to protest to it. slowly slides out of the car, rubbing at his arm a little bit as he looks around. lifts that hand and rubs at his eyes instead, grumbling something underneath his breath. ]

[ stays put when hilda pets him, looking content where he stands before the words of nathan's mumble catches his attention. draws back from hilda slowly & bounds on over to nathan, bending a little to peer at his face worriedly. ]

What is contact? Hurt Nathan?

[ uses his other hand to point at one of his eyes after he moves his fist. then rubs at them again. ]

Contacts. For eye color. Things I take out at night and put in when I get up. Damnit, stupid things and their stupid drying up and stupi--

[ pauses. glances at hilda, feeling himself go red again. slowly puts down his fist, groping around for caleb's hand instead. ]

Um. I'll do it... later...

[ isn't even thinking when he takes nathan's hand to give it a reassuring squeeze, trying to understand nathan's words. shakes his head as a signal that he's given up for now, deciding to concentrate on what is more important. ]

Erm. . . but Nathan is hurt? Help now?

[ peers down at nathan, who just avoids eye contact. stands up straight again, giving a small smile. lifts a finger into the air as her other hand lands onto her hip. ]

If he is hurt then we must help at once!

[ rushes over to the other side of the car to grab their luggage, gesturing for them to follow her as she makes her way towards the door. unlocks it and steps in, pointing to one of the doors down the hallway when they reach the entrance. ]

There is a bathroom down there, ja? Caleb, show him the way and I will take your luggage upstairs.

[ follows & nods enthusiastically in answer. gives nathan's hand a small tug as he heads toward the general direction of the bathroom. ]

I help! Nathan, follow?

[ fidgets a bit but gives a small nod nonetheless, allowing himself to be tugged in whatever direction he's being taken. scrubs at his eyes again, muttering nonsense to himself along the way. ]

[ keeps glancing back at him worriedly at the muttering when he starts leading them through hilda's house. somehow manages not to trip, stumble or crash into anything, appearing to be right at home with the building. when they are in front of the bathroom after several seconds of navigating, he turns to peer at nathan again, giving the hand in his another squeeze. ]

Is okay? Hurt a lot? Nathan need medicine. . . ?

No, it's just--

[ shakes his head before popping into the bathroom, quickly flipping on the light. lets go of caleb's hand, turns on the tap, then fumbles around in his pockets for his contact case. splashes his face with water after he gets everything set up, swiftly taking them out with ease. ]

Finally. [ rubs his eyes again, shoulders sagging in relief. when he's content enough he holds out the still-opened case to caleb to show him. ] Here. See?

[ had been following nathan's movements via head-map just for the sake of easing his own worry. regardless, he still looks happy to see nathan when he emerges anyway, opening his arms to give nathan a hug, too caught up in his relief to properly pay attention to what nathan is trying to show him. ]

[ then stops mid-action to pause & stare down at the case curiously. ]

. . . ? Is wasser, and. . . ehhh. . .

[ stares at him. gives a sigh, using his free hand to point down at the case. ]

Contacts. Con-tacts. [ points to his now-green eyes. points down to the contacts again. ] Put in eye. Changes eye color. Dries up fast on trips.

[ repeats after obediently. ]

Con-tacts.

[ peers at the contacts a little while longer before looking at nathan's face as the boy had once pointed. then blinks. eyes widen briefly in amazement, but the mood seems to quickly fall when a more important thought hits him. ]

Hurt, but change colour? Why? Nathan is not happy with eye?

[ looks down at the case in his hands as his eyes grown dimmer. reaches over to grab the caps and screw them back on, leaning his back on the edge of the sink's counter. it takes him a while to think of the right words to say, shoulders sagging a bit when he decides to make it as short as possible. ]

My family has the same eye color. Exactly the same. I don't like it, so I use these instead.

[ points up to his head & peers up at caleb. ]

Oh, uh. This isn't my real hair color either. My hair's black, but everyone else in my family has black hair too, so...

[ puts the hand down. lips twitch up into a smile when a thought hits him, though it's a little more sad than initially intended. ]

Y'know, even if we're... [ pauses, not sure how to describe whatever is going on between them. just ends up shaking his head. ] We haven't told one another anything, really. I haven't. Sorry.

[ steps closer to wrap his arms around nathan gently when he sees that smile, head resting on the smaller boy's. ]

Is okay. I am not mad. Know hurt is hard to share.

[ nuzzles his nose against the strands. ]

Is same as family, because is family. But family is not Nathan. Nathan is Nathan, and I like Nathan as Nathan.
