[ it felt like bad luck the moment his cellphone rang and woke him up after four hours of sleep. it felt like even worse luck when said person on the other line told nathan that he would be saying hello to their fifth and final member to the 'team'-- alone, which was apparently due to personal reasons from his other three co-workers. this did not deter nathan from furiously texting aaron in anger, only to get a short can't come as a reply. he didn't even bother texting hana, as she still had difficulties texting with an english-language phone, but he still called her and got her voicemail message, which only made him seethe even further.

the anger eventually subsided when coffee was deposited into his hands, drinking his life force happily (or as happy as nathan could get) while turning the corner from starbucks to sit on one of the many chairs littering the front of the shop. once he settled in and tossed his bag onto the table, nathan finally felt like all was right in the world, completely forgetting his original objective for the day. his coffee was his second love, after all, and it deserved his complete and undivided attention. ]

... you're staying with The First? [ pauses, murmuring before taking a drink: ] Wow, good luck with that.

[ blinks & shakes his head quickly. ]

Nein, nein! Room for me is not shared.

[ rolls his eyes. ]

Well d'uh, I wasn't saying that you were sleeping with him or anything.

Oh. You're staying somewhere The First recommended? [ pauses, then shrugs. ] Eh, as long as it's somewhere decent, guess it doesn't matter.

[ nods, rather satisfied that he finally managed to get the truth across while finishing the rest of the milk. ]

It is small. But only me, so it is okay.

Huh. [ finishes his own drink, only to move on to another after some consideration. ]

Doubt they gave you your card yet. How much money do you have?

[ smiles, reaching out to give nathan's hand on the table a few, light reassuring pats. ]

Money is okay. I live okay.

Danke, Nathan. Concern is... erm, very nice because Nathan is nice, but sleep is important.

[ goes silent and looks thoughtful for a moment, eyes focusing elsewhere as something akin to a somber expression flickers on his face. ]

[ turns back to look at caleb again when he snaps out of it, sipping at his drink a little between his words. decides to speed things up a bit, realizing that he was going way off-track. ]

So, have any questions? About our job and stuff, I mean.

[ watches him for a little while longer before setting the empty carton away, though he keeps the straw to chew on. ]

What do Nathan do? On team?

[ taps a finger against the table, thinking on how to go about explaining this without confusing caleb even further. ]

Computer work. [ pauses, gesturing a little with his free hand. ] Hacking into things.

[ leaps forward again. ]

Ahhh...! Nathan is good at machines?

[ jumps a little at that, blinking almost owlishly. ]

Uh. Yeah, I guess you can say that.

[ grins again, looking extremely pleased & a tad relieved. doesn't bother explaining, however -- doesn't know how -- simply deciding to go on with what he knows how to articulate. ]
