[ thuds his head back against the wall softly. ]

You can request roommates, I think. [ shifts uncomfortably. ] Would've been nice, but my place is close enough.

[ blinks down at him when he notices that uncomfortable shift, but decides not to inquire. ]

Is Alyssa going to stay at the dorms?

She's considering it.

Really? Cool, then I can at least go bother her!

[ looks up to meet his gaze when a thought strikes him. ]

Except during the second last week of the month.

Huh? Why, do you guys go on week-long dates at that time?

[ stares at him for a long moment. then gives him another pat, silently deciding that a physical demonstration is probably for the best. ]

You'll learn, my young apprentice.

[ puts a hand over anthony's own, holding it there. ]

Will I really, my pretty little birdie?

[ gives his hand an experimental tug, too distracted to properly process his given title. ]

. . . yes. For. . . the sake of your survival.

[ leans down to press his nose into his hair. ]

You're too kind to me. What should I do to repay you, I think I owe you twice over now.

[ immediately starts his slide downward against the wall once again. ]

F- Free of charge?

[ eventually notices the sliding, scooting to face him before cupping his hands under anthony's armpits to try and straighten him. ]

Whoa, you okay? Do you need to sit down? [ frees a hand to press it against anthony's forehead. ] Man, you feel kind of warm. You sick?

[ without a place to go, ends up dangling a little, his face only growing redder with the proximity. eventually brings up a hand to gently nudge away tony's. ]

. . . the party. Too much excitement.

Really? Maybe you should go home. [ looks around briefly for alyssa, hoping he'd spot her. ] I'll take you back if you want.

[ manages to get back onto his own two feet with some degree of control to lean over to give tony a shoulder nudge. ]

It's a college kid's duty to stay out past midnight.

[ looks him up and down silently before smiling widely, ruffling his hair gently. ]

See! I knew you leveled up! Keep on truckin', little bird.

[ tilts his head some. ]

Caw.

No, no! You're supposed to go "tweet tweet". You're too cute for "caw".

[ short pause. then: ]

Honk.

[ laughs once at that, petting his hair. ]

Close enough, I guess.

[ unconsciously leans toward the petting. ]

I would take caw over honk.

Really? Why's that?

Geese are frightening creatures.

[ laughs one last time before putting his hand down to his side again. ]

France wasn't as interesting without you around. I'm glad I came back.

[ tucks his chin against his collar, feeling bashful to a mortifying extent. ]
