[ it was with some strange stroke of luck that nathan had confirmed the non-presence of albert, brianna, and damon in the mansion for the weekend, almost suspiciously double-checking with them all to make sure; albert was off to god knows where, brianna flew out to hawaii for a photo shoot, and damon was spending some quality time with his friends before the summer officially came to a close.

nathan didn't think it would be this simple. lo and behold, the mansion was completely his for the taking for at least two and a half days. this prompted the almost juvenile-like excitement that overcame him when he invited caleb over for a real two-night stay inside the mansion, to show him where he lived (where he didn't like to live) and let him explore what he normally did not allow people to see. so this is why he tugged at caleb's hand enthusiastically, his body betraying the way he tried to school his expression, knowing somewhere in the back of his mind that in the end it was quite a futile attempt.

stops when they're far enough inside the mansion, not bothering to let caleb's hand go as he turns slightly to look at him. ]

Well, here we are. [ a pause, as if his excitement was slowly wearing off. ] Again.

[ SHRIEKS and pushes/wiggles violently out of caleb's hold, dropping onto the floor with a hearty 'OOF' before getting up and scrambling out of the kitchen, running as quickly as his feet could possibly carry him. ]

[ stands there, empty-armed, for a while, fingers twitching as his brain tries to reboot itself from the shock (however pleasant it might be). ]

[ snaps out of it when sees nathan's form -- a distinctive shape in his head, complete with the rhythm of a heartbeat he is beginning to find dear -- move further & further away. scrambles away from the counter & rushes out of the kitchen. when he bumps into a few carts in the process, the pain only registers as a brief 'ow', too busily chasing after nathan. ]

[ keeps himself at full-speed while tailing nathan's shape. feels a flash of foreign thanks toward the ability that had been forced into his brain when the back of nathan's retreating form comes into his literal vision. ]

Nathan! N- Na-- [ nearly trips. recovers in half a second-- ] Nathan! Bitte warten!!

[ promptly falters on the stairs when he hears the german being thrown at him, thankfully able to catch then push himself off of the railing instead of completely collapsing onto the ground. just keeps at a record-speed pace, a pace he is not used to and thus is slowly down greatly.

with some luck he instantly comes upon his room's doorway, quickly throwing open the door before slamming it behind him. hands shake as he fumbles with the lock, thankfully able to click it closed before falling onto his rear-end to catch his breath. ]

[ it's with no small amount of force that he barrels into that door. rears back with a pained yelp, hands going to his face to rub at the already reddening skin. but that pain too disappears into the chaos of his current situation. a look of dejection crosses his face when he realizes the door is locked. ]

[ after a moment's thought, he closes his literal eye with some hesitance so that he can focus on the blueprint-form that his ability shows him of nathan behind the door. kneels so that he's at level with him. ]

Nathan? Nathan, I see and can hear.

Nathan can hear me too, ja? Stay. Bitte. Hear what I say. . . [ brings a hand to his chest despite knowing that nathan cannot see the movement. ] . . . what is hard to say. From here. Ja?

[ wraps his arms around his legs, still shaking slightly from the burst of exertion and a feeling of something else he can't properly describe. but he knows it isn't normal, thus he buries his face into his knees and listens in silence.

it almost seems like he isn't going to budge when he doesn't respond, but slowly yet surely he uncurls from his position, legs shaking a bit as he steadies himself with a hand on the doorknob. lifts that hand, hesitates, then unlocks it and opens the door half-way. gaze is pointed directly to the floor, however, looking almost as if he were a child that had done something wrong and was promptly scolded for it. ]

[ puts a hand against the door gingerly, pushing it open slowly. smiles down at the person he finds there & leans down so that he can bury his nose into nathan's hair affectionately. pointedly keeps his hands rooted away for now. ]

Danke. Is. . . is first time. For Nathan, and for me.

[ deep breath, then starts speaking. ]

I am not smart. Is hard to say everything in English. Hard to understand some things.

But I know Nathan. And Nathan make me happy and calm. Nathan make me easy to be away from home. You is-- [ stops, remembering something. fixes carefully. ] You are important. To team. To me.

[ shakes his head in uncharacteristic frustration. switches to german just for the peace of mind on his end. finally wraps his arms around the smaller boy to pull him closer. ]

Sie sind sehr wichtig für mich. Bitte nicht von mir ausgeführt. Ich will dir nicht weh tun. Ich werde dich beschützen.

And. . . and if okay. . . Ich will dich lieben. Bitte?

[ uncharacteristically peers up at him with a timid look on his face, gaze flickering to the floor briefly until he gains enough courage to keep his eyes on caleb.

when the other is finished speaking his face contorts into something unfamiliar, but the tears he eventually feels are quite real to him nonetheless. arms come up slowly to return the hug, fingers gripping onto his shirt tightly, almost a little desperately. something in the back of his mind knows exactly what caleb's words meant, but instead he just buries his face into caleb's collarbone and says between sniffling: ]

I-- I don't... know what you just said...

[ hangs onto him, just as tight, letting nathan have a moment. then draws back a little so that he can press his lips against the skin beneath one of the eyes, catching some of the tears. ]

I translate, but need dictionary.

[ another pause, grinning when he suddenly realizes something. ]

Erm. My. . . my heart is loud too. Like Nathan.

[ blinks up at him a few times, eyes circling down to his chest. uses a hand to scrub at his face a little before leaning in close to the spot above caleb's heart, pressing his ear against it as he closes his eyes. ]

... it is. [ lips twitch upward into a smile, holding onto him a bit tighter. ] But I like it.

[ makes another one of his sheepish laughs, hugging nathan to him even closer. ]

Am glad. I am glad.

[ draws back a little so that he can look at him properly. ]

Am glad I meet Nathan.

[ slips back into feeling embarrassed, taking a quick look at him before pointedly pressing his face back into caleb's chest. ]

I-- y-yeah. Glad too. Am glad I m-met Caleb.
