[ pauses, scratching the back of his head. ]

What is favourite animal?

[ looks elsewhere at that, giving himself some time to think. and then: ]

I never thought about that before. All animals hate me, so...

[ nods, knowing that to be true from previous conversations. ]

Then Nathan be Nathan? Nathan angel be friend with dog angel.

[ shrugs a shoulder at that, shuffling over to his backpack to dig around in it for his scarf. ]

Sounds about right to me.

[ hands one of his bigger jackets to nathan when he sees that nathan's about done in completing the layers upon layers of protection. ]

Almost done!

[ takes it after he stands, fumbling with it a little clumsily until he gets it on. looks down at himself. back up at caleb. ]

Am I ready yet, mom?

[ thumps at nathan's clothes-layered sides as a test before nodding with a grin. ]

Ja! Very ready!

[ murmurs something about looking ridiculous as he shoves on his hat, waddling around a little awkwardly as he waits for caleb to finish his own changing routine. ]

[ quickly grabs his discarded winter jacket, shrugging it on. zipping that up, he scrambles around, locating one glove after another. it takes another five minutes for him to find his hat. yanking that on (his hair sticking out from under it in a messy way), he stands up, puffing out his chest like he's accomplished something great. ]

Okay!

[ slowly smiles at him and his enthusiasm, lifting a hand to pat caleb's head but moves it at the last minute to pat his cheek instead. ]

A world record.

[ nuzzles against that hand. ]

Gold?

[ uses his other hand to smoosh caleb's cheeks in a tad. ]

Gold. Maybe even cookies later.

[ grunts & manages his next words through his fish-lips with a great deal of effort: ]

Cookies! I want with strawberry milk!

[ smiles and nods, only letting go of his face after one last good squeeze. ]

We can pick some up after Aaron and Hana leave.

Not share with team?

[ blinks at that. reaches to tug on his scarf while replying. ]

Uh... I guess so, sure.

[ reaches for the scarf to help tie it loosely (& a bit awkwardly) around nathan's neck. ]

Nathan do not want?

[ shakes his head, standing still to allow caleb to do the work for him. ]

It's not that. I'm just not as thoughtful as you are.

[ gives the finished knot one of his pleased pats when he's done. ]

Nein, Nathan is a lot thoughtful! Have very good ideas.

[ shrugs, pushing his hands into his pockets. ]

Yeah, but it's the little things that count the most. Or something like that.

Then I share little thought with Nathan. Can share!

[ opens his mouth, closing it when he realizes that it would take way too much time and effort to explain. shakes his head fondly instead, reaching out to hook his arm around one of caleb's. ]

Let's go before it stops snowing.

[ glances out the window in a worried manner before he nods & starts to quickly tug them toward the door. only stops once on their trek outside (& that is so that he can lock the door), taking the few flights of stairs down on account of the elevator taking too long. once outside, he tugs the hat on a little more firmly so the wetness wouldn't touch his skin too much, then turns to beam at the other boy. ]
